๐ท Activity Details
Description
FACK e.V. is a youth organisation creating spaces where young people can take responsibility, develop ideas and shape their local community. Our work is built around the FACKtory, youth-led events, project meetings, community activities and international learning opportunities. As an ESC volunteer, you will become part of this active environment and support young people in developing their own projects. With 19 employees creating 10,000+ participation moments a year, we can promise many opportunities to learn and grow! Your tasks may include helping with workshops, youth meetings, local events, communication, social media, documentation, logistics and community work. You may also support open youth activities in the FACKtory, help young people prepare their own events, contribute to international projects and bring your own ideas into the organisation. The focus is on practical youth participation, intercultural learning, democracy, inclusion, sustainability and solidarity.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Accommodation will be provided in Altenburg, 200m from the train station (which is 30mins to Leipzig city center, you will also receive a ticket for use of regional transportation). The flat is 59 square meters, and you will live alone there, with potentially a national volunteer joining in the end of the year. The volunteer will receive monthly pocket money and food allowance according to European Solidarity Corps rules. International travel costs will be reimbursed according to ESC distance bands and programme rules. The volunteer will be covered by the ESC insurance scheme through Henner.
Training during the activity
The volunteer will participate in the official ESC training cycle, including on-arrival and mid-term training where applicable. FACK e.V. will provide mentoring, regular reflection meetings and task-related support from the team, you will be integrated into our coaching, reflection and FACKademy programs. The volunteer will gain practical experience in non-formal education, youth participation, event organisation, project management, intercultural communication, social media, community-based youth work. There is ample opportunity to practice German but the whole team can speak English.
Participant profile
We are looking for a young person aged 18โ30 who wants to work with young people and become part of an active youth community in Altenburg and to find new solutions to the struggles democracy faces, especially the rural and youth dimensions of this. The volunteer should be open-minded, reliable, willing to learn and ready to support both creative and practical tasks. We especially welcome applicants interested in youth participation, local community work, non-formal education, intercultural learning, democracy, inclusion, sustainability, social media, event organisation or project support. Previous experience in youth work or volunteering is useful but not required. More important is motivation, initiative and the willingness to work with young people in a respectful and peer-based environment. English is needed for team communication.
