๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช ESC Volunteering in Sweden ๐ŸŒฟ ReGreen VI: Permaculture, Community Living and Sustainable Futures at Suderbyn Ecovillage ๐Ÿ•๏ธ

The same ecovillage. The same radical commitment to permaculture and voluntary simplicity. A new group of 10 young people ready to spend 21 days building, growing, reflecting, and living together. ReGreen VI is the latest edition of Suderbyn’s ESC team volunteering programme โ€” an educational, practical, and social adventure in the Suderbyn Permaculture Ecovillage on the island of Gotland, Sweden.

๐ŸŒฑ About Suderbyn

Suderbyn is home to an international community of people who apply permaculture principles and voluntary simplicity in their everyday lives. The ecovillage is a living experiment in sustainable community โ€” and for 21 days, ReGreen volunteers become part of it. Working days combine theory and practice, giving participants skills and competences they can take with them long after the programme ends.

๐ŸŽฏ Three Project Themes

๐Ÿ”จ Infrastructure and Sustainable Living Spaces

Creating and maintaining sustainable living spaces through activities organised by Suderbyn’s infrastructure and building domain

๐ŸŒพ Applied Permaculture Design

Learning and applying permaculture design principles through activities in Suderbyn’s garden domain โ€” hands-on work with the land, food systems, and ecological design

๐Ÿค Personal and Group Development

Activities organised by the social domain and the community’s NGO RELEARN โ€” focusing on group dynamics, personal growth, and community cohesion

๐Ÿ•๏ธ Accommodation and Food

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Participants stay in a mixed shared room (large enough for 10 people) or in tents

๐Ÿฅ— Vegan food only โ€” participants are expected to actively participate in cooking

๐ŸŒ The project is designed around community living โ€” all volunteers eat, work, sleep, and celebrate together in simple conditions, building solidarity and cooperation

โš ๏ธ This is a rural lifestyle project. It may not be suitable for those who prefer urban activities.
