Ecology. Music. Arts. Working with children. And a community in southern Bulgaria that is genuinely shaped by the volunteers who come to be part of it. “We and Nature” is a long-term ESC volunteering initiative coordinated by Art Center Karnolsky in Bulgaria, offering two long-term placements for young people aged 18โ€“29 who want to combine environmental awareness, intercultural learning, and creative community work in one meaningful experience.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ About Art Center Karnolsky

Art Center Karnolsky operates in both Sofia and Kardzhali, Bulgaria, and holds an accredited ESC Quality Label. The organisation works at the intersection of arts, ecology, community engagement, and inclusion โ€” with a strong focus on young people with fewer opportunities and the active use of green travel throughout its projects.

๐ŸŽฏ The Role

Volunteers will be embedded in the organisation’s activities in Kardzhali โ€” contributing to community engagement, intercultural learning, and solidarity-focused work with a strong creative and environmental dimension. The project runs two long-term individual placements and offers full organisational, financial, and learning support throughout.

๐Ÿ“‹ What You’ll Do

๐ŸŒฑ Contribute to community engagement activities focused on ecology, nature, and solidarity

๐ŸŽจ Support arts and music activities with community members and young people

๐Ÿ‘ฆ Work with children and youth, including those with fewer opportunities

๐ŸŒ Engage in intercultural learning and exchange as a core part of daily work

โ™ป๏ธ Participate in activities aligned with the organisation’s environmental and green values

๐Ÿค Contribute to the organisation’s Quality Label goals around diversity and equal participation

๐ŸŽ What the Project Provides

๐Ÿ  Safe and decent accommodation arranged by the host organisation

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Food allowance fully covered as part of organisational support

๐ŸšŒ Local transport to and from project activities arranged or reimbursed

โœˆ๏ธ International travel funded according to ESC distance and green travel rules

๐Ÿ›‚ Visa coverage provided where needed

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Language support through Online Language Support (OLS) or other tools

๐Ÿ“š Full ESC training cycle โ€” pre-departure preparation, on-arrival training, mid-term evaluation, and annual event

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿซ Ongoing mentorship and supervision from the host organisation

๐Ÿ‘ค Who Should Apply

The project is looking for young people aged 18โ€“29 who are:

๐ŸŒฟ Genuinely interested in ecology, music, arts, and working with children

๐ŸŒ Motivated to contribute to intercultural exchange and community solidarity

๐ŸŽจ Open, creative, and adaptable โ€” professional experience is not required
