This is one of those placements that goes beyond the ordinary. ASPEm is offering an ESC Humanitarian Aid Volunteering opportunity in Cochabamba, Bolivia, supporting Adelante Mujer โ€” a local organisation dedicated to promoting the economic and emotional autonomy of women. The volunteer will work directly alongside women beneficiaries, delivering health and wellbeing workshops, conducting monitoring interviews, and supporting micro-entrepreneurship initiatives in a community that genuinely needs it.

๐Ÿข About ASPEm and Adelante Mujer

ASPEm is an international development organisation with a long-standing presence in Bolivia. Their local partner, Adelante Mujer, creates a space for women to develop economic independence, emotional resilience, and health awareness. This volunteering placement sits at the heart of that mission โ€” combining education, health, and empowerment work with direct community engagement.

๐ŸŽฏ The Role

The volunteer will support activities focused on education, wellbeing, and health for women โ€” working across three interconnected areas: monitoring and record-keeping, health and hygiene education, and economic empowerment workshops.

๐Ÿ“‹ What You’ll Do

๐Ÿ“‹ Maintain updated records of women and their children โ€” tracking their physical and emotional wellbeing and identifying emerging needs

๐ŸŽค Conduct interviews exploring issues related to economic dependency, autonomy, health knowledge, education, mental health, and trust in support programmes

๐Ÿงผ Deliver workshops and informational sessions on topics ranging from basic hygiene to disease prevention, in collaboration with health experts

๐Ÿณ Organise and implement economic autonomy and micro-entrepreneurship workshops โ€” cooking, handicrafts, or other activities based on the volunteer’s specific skills

๐Ÿค Collaborate with Adelante Mujer and the broader local women’s network throughout the placement

๐ŸŽ What the Project Provides

๐Ÿ  Shared house in Cochabamba with private, lockable room โ€” utilities including water, gas, electricity, and internet included. Located in a safe northern area close to shops, pharmacies, and banks with good access to affordable public transport

๐Ÿ“š Hands-on learning in community-based support, feminist facilitation, educational and recreational methodologies

๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Online meetings with other project volunteers for training, exchange of experiences, and good practices

๐Ÿ”— Access to platforms including OLS, GOT, and SALTO

๐Ÿ“œ Youthpass certificate recognising all competences developed during the placement

โœ… Eligibility Requirements

This is a Humanitarian Aid Volunteering placement with specific eligibility criteria:

๐Ÿ”ž Aged 18โ€“35

๐ŸŒ Must reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Tรผrkiye)

โœ… Must have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training before applying

๐Ÿšซ Must not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering

โฑ๏ธ Total duration of this and any previous EU volunteering must not exceed 12 months in combination

๐Ÿ‘ค Ideal Candidate Profile

ASPEm is looking for a volunteer who brings:

โค๏ธ A strong social vocation combined with organisational skills and basic knowledge of human development

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Active listening, empathy, and patience โ€” the ability to motivate and connect with women in challenging situations

๐Ÿ“‹ Strong organisational and planning skills โ€” clear communication and conflict resolution abilities

๐Ÿค The capacity to work collaboratively with other volunteers and local partners

๐Ÿฉบ Background or knowledge in health, nutrition, education, social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred

๐ŸŽค Experience in conducting monitoring activities and interviews is considered an asset
