๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช ESC Volunteering in Germany ๐Ÿ‘ง Volunteering with Children & Youth at Elisabethheim ๐ŸŒฑ

Working with children who have experienced difficult family backgrounds, homelessness, or refugee situations isn’t easy work โ€” but it’s some of the most meaningful work there is. Elisabethheim Havetoft is a residential and day care facility in rural northern Germany, and they’re looking for an ESC volunteer who is genuinely motivated to make a difference in young people’s lives.

๐Ÿก About Elisabethheim Havetoft

Elisabethheim Havetoft e.V. is dedicated to the admission, care, and support of children and teenagers who need help in education. The facility runs daily groups, living groups, farming groups, and therapy groups. Young people coming from difficult family backgrounds, histories of delinquent behaviour, homelessness, or refugee situations are given a home here โ€” and as a volunteer, you become part of that environment.

๐ŸŽฏ The Role

This is an individual ESC volunteering placement in a residential care setting. You’ll be working directly alongside children and teenagers across the different group formats at Elisabethheim. The organisation encourages volunteers to take initiative and even start their own projects โ€” so if you have ideas, there’s room to bring them to life.

๐Ÿ“‹ What You’ll Do

๐Ÿ‘ฆ Support children and teenagers across daily groups, living groups, farming groups, and therapy groups

๐Ÿ  Contribute to the day-to-day life of young people living at the facility

๐ŸŒพ Take part in farming and therapeutic group activities

๐Ÿ’ก Take initiative and develop your own projects within the organisation

๐Ÿค Participate in team meetings and collaborate with the Elisabethheim staff

๐ŸŽ What Elisabethheim Provides

๐Ÿ  On-site accommodation in a volunteers’ flat โ€” single room with shared kitchen and bathroom

๐Ÿ’ถ Pocket money of 210โ‚ฌ per month plus food allowances

๐Ÿš— Access to organisational cars for private use โ€” helpful given the rural location

๐ŸšŒ Deutschlandticket for local public transport across the entire area and all of Germany

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ At least one German language course plus an online language course via the ESC system

๐Ÿ“‹ Regular meetings with a personal tutor

๐ŸŽ“ Access to seminars and workshops organised by the German National Agency and coordinating organisation VIA e.V.

๐Ÿ“œ Youthpass certificate upon completion of the volunteering

๐Ÿ‘ค Who Should Apply

Motivation is the most important selection criteria โ€” full stop. Beyond that, Elisabethheim is looking for:

โค๏ธ A genuine interest in working with children and teenagers

๐Ÿš— An international driving licence and driving experience โ€” important given the rural location

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ German language skills are appreciated but not mandatory

๐Ÿ“š Initial experience in the field of education is desirable but not required
