🇸🇰 ESC Volunteering in Slovakia 🌊 River Conservation, Permaculture & Land Art at RIVER III. 🎨

If your idea of a meaningful summer involves cleaning riverbanks, learning permaculture, making land art in the forest, and ending it all with a community event — this project was designed for you. RIVER III. is a team volunteering project in rural Slovakia that brings together nature conservation, sustainable living, and artistic expression in one of the most hands-on ESC experiences out there.

🌿 About the Project

RIVER III. is organised by Agentúra Rozvoja Turizmu, Kultúry, Remesla, Umenia a Harmónie and takes place in a rural permaculture settlement near Prenčov, Slovakia. The project sits at the intersection of environmental action and creative expression — volunteers will work on real conservation tasks along a local river while simultaneously exploring land art as a tool for communication and self-expression. The project wraps up with a public community event on an environmental theme.

🎯 The Role

This is a team volunteering ESC placement. You won’t be working alone — you’ll be part of a group of young people from across Europe, living together in a glamping-style permaculture settlement, doing physical outdoor work, and creating art in nature. It’s immersive, communal, and genuinely different from a standard volunteering placement.

📋 What You’ll Do

🌊 Clean and repair the banks of the river to reduce the risk of flooding

🗑️ Clear illegal waste dumping sites in and around the natural area

🪨 Create places for short rest and reflection in nature

🎨 Apply land art as a tool of communication and self-expression

🌱 Learn and practice basic permaculture principles on a working permaculture settlement

🐉 Get introduced to the Dragon Dreaming project methodology

🎭 Explore artistic approaches including storytelling, singing, and land art

🎉 Help organise a local public event with an environmental theme at the end of the project

🎁 What the Project Provides

🏕️ Unique glamping-style accommodation — attic rooms, caravans, and glamping tents in a permaculture settlement with solar showers, composting toilets, fireplaces, tents, and hammocks

🥗 Healthy and delicious vegetarian food throughout the project

🚌 Local transportation arranged via local bus lines

📚 Training in permaculture principles, Dragon Dreaming methodology, and various artistic approaches

This project is for young people who feel a deep connection with nature and are genuinely curious about how humans can positively influence their environment. You should be:
