UNFPA is hiring a Finance Specialist at the P-3 level in Copenhagen within its Supply Chain Management Unit (SCMU). This re-advertised fixed-term role leads financial management and controllership across the unit's activities, and the application deadline is 1 September 2026.
Where This Role Sits
The Finance Specialist position is located in the Finance Team within Pillar 4, Support Services, in the UNFPA Supply Chain Management Unit (SCMU). The position reports directly to the Head of Pillar 4, Support Services, and works closely with other SCMU colleagues, HQ Business Units (particularly the Finance Branch), Regional and Country Offices, and external partners.
๐ฆ The self-funded SCMU, operational since January 2022, ensures UNFPA can effectively and efficiently support the delivery of life-saving reproductive health products and other programme supplies to the end user, strengthening the capacity of governments and implementing partners for coordination, end-to-end visibility and accountability across supply chain and logistics management.
The Purpose of the Role
The Finance Specialist plays a pivotal role in the financial management and controllership of SCMU's financial activities. This encompasses oversight of Accounts Payable functions, internal financial controls, financial reporting, processing transactions, facilitating budget planning, coordinating annual account closures, and implementing audit recommendations in line with UNFPA regulations, along with strategic oversight and management of a dedicated team.
What You Would Be Responsible For
๐ถ Providing expert financial guidance to senior management on resource planning, budgeting and optimization, and ensuring full compliance with UNFPA financial policies, IPSAS standards and internal control frameworks.
๐ Leading budget planning, execution and performance monitoring, including variance analysis and forecasting, and overseeing ERP financial functions such as transaction approvals, reconciliations and ledger integrity.
๐ Managing audit preparedness and follow-up, risk management and exception reporting, supervising accounts payable and receivable processes, and leading annual financial closure, year-end reconciliations and coordination with auditors.
๐ Supporting innovative financing approaches to diversify funding and enhance financial sustainability.
๐งโ๐ซ Developing and implementing capacity-strengthening initiatives, advocating for the training of supply chain professionals, and coaching and mentoring UNFPA personnel in the supply chain management function.
๐ Championing UNFPA's supply chain thought leadership through engagement with industry experts, forums, research and publications, and fostering knowledge retention and a community of practice for supply chain.

Who Can Apply
๐ An advanced university degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, International Commerce or a related field is required, together with a professional accounting certification such as CPA, CMA, ACCA or CIMA with demonstrated expertise in IPSAS.
๐ A minimum of five years of relevant, progressively responsible experience in financial management, accounting or related areas is required, including experience managing a team (particularly within a remote or matrix organizational structure) and experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
๐ฃ๏ธ Strong interpersonal skills, professional written and spoken presentation skills, and the ability to synthesize complex supply chain documents for both technical and non-technical audiences are required.
