🇮🇹 Erasmus+ Training Course in Italy 🎵 Music, Emotional Resilience & Youth Work for Social Change 🌍

Music as a tool for healing, inclusion, and empowerment — not as a concept, but as a practice. This Erasmus+ training course in Italy brings together youth workers, music educators, and facilitators to explore what happens when music meets social work, and why that intersection matters more than ever.

Windmill Tree Foundation is organising Sound Atlas of Resilience — a training course taking place in Savigliano, Italy, designed for professionals who work at the meeting point of music, youth work, and social support. The course runs from 2 to 10 June 2026 and brings together 20 participants from 16 countries across Europe.

What Is This Course About?

The core focus of this training is how music can help individuals and communities express emotions, strengthen self-confidence, build connection, and respond constructively to difficult life situations. Participants will reflect on music as a support tool in youth work, explore its use with refugees, migrants, and groups affected by exclusion or trauma, and discuss the connections between music and art therapy.

One of the most meaningful elements of the course is a collaborative creative process: participants will work in mixed groups to create musical backgrounds for the stories of Ukrainian refugee children — learning to engage with personal narratives in a sensitive, respectful, and artistically meaningful way.

Goals & Objectives

🎶 Reflect on the role of music as a support tool in youth work and community-based practice

🏳️ Explore the use of music in work with refugees, migrants, and groups affected by displacement, exclusion, or trauma

🎨 Discuss how music connects with art therapy and creative processes for emotional wellbeing

🤝 Exchange experiences, methods, and good practices related to using music in youth work

🌍 Share approaches across cultures and learn from peers in an intercultural setting

🎼 Engage in a collaborative creative process — creating musical backgrounds for the stories of Ukrainian refugee children

Who Should Apply?

🔹 Age: 20 and above

🔹 Experience in working with young people — or strong motivation to begin

🔹 A practical connection to music — through playing, creating, or using music in practice (not only as a listener)

🔹 Previous experience using music in educational, social, youth work, or community contexts

🔹 Experience working with refugees and vulnerable groups — or a strong willingness to develop in this area

🔹 Communicative English is required

🔹 Open to teamwork, collaboration, and creative group work

⚠️ Participation in the full duration of the training is mandatory. Late arrivals and early departures will not be possible. Please check your availability carefully before applying.

Accommodation & Practical Details

🏨 Participants stay in a hostel in Savigliano — shared rooms of 4 to 5 persons

📍 Project venue: Corso Roma 117, 12038 Savigliano CN, Italy

👟 Comfortable, warm clothes and shoes — time will be spent outdoors in nature

🥿 Indoor shoes or slippers — obligatory

🪥 Personal hygiene supplies

🎸 Any musical instruments you play or enjoy — encouraged to bring

💻 A laptop for sound editing if available

Travel Reimbursement

Travel costs are reimbursed based on distance. The maximum amounts are:

📍 10–99 km: €28

📍 100–499 km: €211

📍 500–1999 km: €309

📍 2000–2999 km: €395

🌿 If you travel by green means (no plane) — contact the organisers individually, as your reimbursement budget may increase.
