Caritas Sofia invites you to join A New Hope 2026, a meaningful ESC volunteering experience in Sofia, Bulgaria. The organisation supports refugees from the Middle East and Ukraine, Roma children, homeless people, youth with disabilities, elderly people in need, and vulnerable families. Through a network of dedicated centres, Caritas provides humanitarian, social, educational, and community support. As a volunteer, you will contribute directly to improving lives while gaining powerful social, organisational, and intercultural skills. ๐๐ค
๐ฏ Available Volunteer Roles
Caritas Sofia offers three distinct volunteer roles, each focusing on different aspects of social support:
1๏ธโฃ Driver for the Social Kitchen + Refugee Kids Support
โ Deliver meals for the social kitchen (2โ4 hours daily)
โ Spend afternoons with refugee children (games, English practice, activities)

2๏ธโฃ Refugee Kids & Roma Kids Support
โ Assist in English classes
โ Lead games, sports, creative sessions
โ Support children in safe, positive environments
3๏ธโฃ Digital Marketing Assistant
โ Create online content
โ Take photos/videos in Caritas Centres
โ Support digital communication and technical tasks

๐ Accommodation, Food & Transport
โ Shared flat in a quiet, green area of Sofia
โ Rent, utilities, and internet fully covered
โ International and local travel reimbursed
โ Monthly allowance: 210 EUR pocket money + 210 EUR food money (420 EUR total)
โ Additional support may be available for some participants ๐ฟ๐ถ
๐ Training During the Activity
Volunteers assist Caritas teams for approximately 7 hours per day (MonโFri) and learn through hands-on participation. Training includes:
โ Caritas safeguarding standards
โ Working with vulnerable individuals
โ Social kitchen operations
โ Refugee and Roma community issues
โ Teaching, animation, positive environment building
โ Digital tools and media content creation
โ Supporting people with disabilities
This experience develops essential communication, organisational, technical, and social skills.

We are looking for volunteers who are:
โ Kind, respectful, honest
โ Caring toward children and vulnerable groups
โ Flexible, open-minded, eager to learn
โ Motivated to contribute wherever needed
Advanced English or technical skills are helpful but not required. Personality and attitude matter most.
