🌟 Project Description

This ESC project hosted by Borders:None in Zagreb, Croatia 🇭🇷 focuses on supporting the social inclusion of refugees and asylum seekers through adult education. The organisation teaches Croatian, English, programming and digital literacy, believing that everyone deserves equal access to learning and new opportunities. Volunteers will join the adult education team and support teachers and students through various educational activities.

Your tasks will include:

• 🖥️ Assisting teachers and learners in programming classes (no programming knowledge required)
• 📚 Supporting students in their learning process
• 📊 Monitoring student progress
• ✉️ Communicating with learners via email and online channels
• 🇭🇷 Assisting Croatian language classes (no Croatian needed)
• 💻 Teaching digital skills
• 🗣️ Supporting English language learning
• 👩‍🏫 Contributing to adult education activities and teaching support

This volunteering experience is ideal for candidates passionate about education, languages, digital skills, social inclusion and community support.

🏡 Accommodation, Food & Transport

• ✈️ Travel reimbursed according to EU distance calculator
• 🏠 Shared accommodation with two other volunteers (private room)
• 💶 Monthly support: approximately €500 (food + pocket money)
• 🚋 Public transport ticket provided
• 🗣️ Language support (OLS + possible A1/A2 group course)
• 🏥 Health insurance and possible visa/residence permit cost coverage

🧰 Training During the Activity

• 🧭 Onboarding training provided by the host organisation
• 🇭🇷 On-arrival and mid-term training by the Croatian National Agency
• 🇪🇺 Pre-departure training provided by the supporting organisation
• 🎓 Additional learning opportunities through SALTO, local courses or host organisation training

👥 Participant Profile

We are looking for volunteers who are passionate about adult education, teaching, languages, digital and tech topics, and knowledge-sharing.
Ideal candidates:

• 💡 Have interest in teaching and learning processes
• 💻 Are curious about digital and tech fields (no coding skills needed)
• 🌍 Are committed to supporting refugees and migrants
• 🇭🇷 Do not need Croatian language knowledge
• 🎓 Have previous experiences in education, volunteering, or knowledge transfer (a plus)
• ❤️ Are truly passionate about spending most of their time in educational activities with people
