Empowering changemakers to build participatory climate solutions for a just and sustainable future!


🌿 About the Program

Applications are now open for the People Powered Climate Democracy Accelerator (CDA) 2026, a six-month funded program supporting government and civil society leaders who want to launch participatory climate action projects.

This practice-oriented accelerator helps participants design and implement inclusive climate initiatives focused on renewable energy, regenerative agriculture, clean transport, and local climate resilience — ensuring that community voices shape the policies that affect them most.

Since its launch in 2023, the CDA has supported over 50 participatory climate projects worldwide, advancing democratic solutions to the global climate crisis.


💰 Grant & Support

All selected participants will receive:
🌎 $10,000 USD implementation grant to launch their participatory climate project.
🏆 Additional $15,000 USD award for the top five action plans in each cohort.
🤝 Dedicated mentorship to guide program design and delivery.
📘 Access to the Participation Playbook, an interactive tool for participatory planning.
🧠 Live training sessions, online workshops, and peer-learning exchanges.
🌍 Country-based peer group collaboration with in-country lead partners.
📚 Localized case studies and tailored resources for your context.


🌍 Program Themes

The CDA focuses on inclusive climate solutions in:

  • Regenerative agriculture and sustainable food systems
  • Renewable energy and decarbonization
  • Energy efficiency and green housing
  • Air pollution reduction and clean transportation
  • Climate justice and participatory governance

👥 Who Can Apply

Open to:

  • Government officials and policymakers launching participatory climate programs (in partnership with NGOs).
  • Civil society organization staff and climate advocates working with government institutions.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Organizations must have at least one full year of operations and a proven fundraising record.
  • Must have paid staff and a board of directors or advisory committee.
  • Must be a registered non-profit in their home country.
  • Participants must be professionally proficient in English, French, Portuguese, or Spanish.

Priority will be given to applicants from:
🇧🇷 Brazil | 🇮🇳 India | 🇲🇽 Mexico | 🇿🇦 South Africa | 🇮🇩 Indonesia
Additional spots are available for candidates from other countries worldwide.

Note: Volunteer groups and newly formed NGOs are not eligible for funding.

  • January 2026: Selected participants notified
  • February – March 2026: Due diligence & onboarding
  • March – August 2026: Six-month accelerator
  • September 2026 – August 2027: Implementation of action plans
