๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Erasmus+ Youth Exchange in Italy ๐ŸŒฑ Trick or Truth?: Greenwashing, Sustainability and Critical Thinking Exchange for Young People Aged 18-25 ๐Ÿ”Ž

Posted 7 November 2026

Activity dates

14 December 2026 โ†’ 22 December 2026

Trick or Truth? is an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange in Pesaro, Italy, from 14 to 22 December 2026. It brings together 36 young people from Italy, Serbia, Tรผrkiye, Romania and Poland to explore greenwashing, sustainability and critical thinking. The infopack mentions no participation fee, meals are provided and travel is reimbursed up to a set budget. There is no fixed deadline, so apply as soon as possible. At Youth Works Hub, we read the call and the full infopack, and this guide puts every detail in one place.

What Is Trick or Truth?

It is a youth exchange about how to tell real environmental action from misleading "green" claims. Through non-formal education, practical workshops, teamwork and real-life examples, participants learn how to:

๐Ÿ•ต๏ธ Recognise misleading environmental claims

โœ… Verify information

๐Ÿท๏ธ Understand labels and certifications

๐Ÿ“ฃ Communicate sustainability more responsibly

If you are new to the format, our guide explains what an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange is and how a typical one works.

Social Media, Algorithms and Green Messages

The project also focuses on digital media literacy. It explores how social media, algorithms, advertising and influencers can shape the way "green" messages are perceived. Along the way, participants strengthen their communication, teamwork, creativity, leadership and intercultural competences.

What You Will Create

During the exchange, participants create reusable outputs:

๐Ÿ“Š Infographics

๐ŸŽฌ Short videos

๐Ÿ“š Educational content

๐Ÿ“‹ Practical checklists

The overall aim is to empower young people to become more informed, responsible and active European citizens, able to question information, ask for evidence and promote more transparent and sustainable choices in their communities.

A Welcome for First-Timers and Young People with Fewer Opportunities

Special attention is given to first-time Erasmus+ participants and young people with fewer opportunities, creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. No previous Erasmus+ experience is required. Our guide on inclusion support in Erasmus+ and ESC explains the extra help that exists for young people facing barriers.

Working Methods

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Non-formal education and learning by doing

๐Ÿงฉ Interactive workshops and team-building activities

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Group discussions, debates and simulations

๐Ÿ’ป Creative challenges and digital fact-checking

๐ŸŒ Intercultural learning and peer-to-peer activities

๐Ÿ“ฑ Social media campaigns, teamwork and outdoor activities

Participants Profile

๐ŸŽ‚ Young people aged 18-25 from Italy, Poland, Romania, Serbia and Tรผrkiye

๐ŸŒ Interested in sustainability, environmental awareness, greenwashing and social media

๐Ÿ“š Motivated to learn, share experiences and take part actively in intercultural activities

๐Ÿ†• No previous Erasmus+ experience is required

๐Ÿค Open-minded, respectful and willing to work in international teams

โš–๏ธ The project welcomes young people with fewer opportunities and promotes equal participation

Each country sends 6 participants plus 1 group leader.

Profile of the Group Leader

Group leaders are expected to be youth workers or trainers with experience in youth work.

๐Ÿ”ž Age: at least 18 years old, with no upper age limit

๐Ÿงญ Role: supporting and guiding their national group before, during and after the exchange

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ English: able to communicate effectively in English and cooperate with international partners

๐Ÿ’š Care: supporting participants' well-being, inclusion, safety and active participation

๐Ÿงณ Logistics: helping with travel arrangements, group activities, daily communication and conflict resolution

๐Ÿ“ˆ Follow-up: contributing to evaluation, dissemination and follow-up activities

The Ideal Participant

The organisers describe the ideal participant in seven points:

๐Ÿ’ก Curious and engaged: you do not need to be an expert in the topic, but you should come with interest and a desire to explore it with others

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Willing to be part of a group: ready to work, share and live in a group setting, join all activities, respect common spaces and contribute to a positive, cooperative environment

๐ŸŒ Respectful and open-minded: you will meet people from different countries and cultural backgrounds, so being respectful, inclusive and adaptable to different habits, beliefs and lifestyles is key

๐ŸŽ“ Motivated to learn and contribute: take part actively, whether by leading a small activity, sharing experience or simply being an attentive and supportive presence

๐Ÿ”„ Flexible and adaptable: plans may change, conditions may vary, and you may face new experiences such as different foods, shared rooms or limited Wi-Fi

๐Ÿ•’ Responsible and present: be on time, attend all sessions and take your role in the group seriously

๐Ÿ’› Positive and encouraging: a kind word, a clap of appreciation or a smile can make a big difference

A Final Note from the Organisers

If you feel curious, even a little nervous, but eager to grow and connect, you are probably the perfect fit. But if you are looking for a cheap vacation, are not truly interested in the topic, or do not want to be part of a shared group process, this might not be the right experience for you.

Arrival and Departure Rules

๐Ÿ•“ Arrival: participants must arrive at the venue between 16:00 and 21:00 on the official arrival day

๐Ÿšซ Early departure: leaving the project early to catch a flight or bus is not permitted

๐ŸŽซ Tickets: book your travel tickets in line with the official project dates

Around the Hotel

Hotel Perticari is in a central area of Pesaro, with most essential services within walking distance:

๐Ÿ›’ Supermarket and pharmacy: about 500 m from the hotel

๐Ÿ‘• Laundry service: about 300 m away

๐Ÿง ATMs and banks: in the nearby city centre

๐Ÿ™๏ธ Pesaro city centre: about 800 m from the hotel

๐Ÿš‰ Pesaro Train Station: about 1.6 km away

How to Reach the Venue from Bologna Airport (Recommended)

Bologna Airport (BLQ) is generally the most convenient option for international participants because of its larger number of flight connections.

๐Ÿš Step 1, Bologna Airport to Bologna Centrale: take the Marconi Express directly to Bologna Centrale Railway Station. The journey takes about 7 minutes, and the service normally runs from 05:40 until midnight

๐Ÿš† Step 2, Bologna Centrale to Pesaro: take a train towards the Adriatic coast. Many trains towards Rimini / Ancona / Pescara / Lecce stop in Pesaro, with direct journeys of about 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes

๐Ÿšถ Step 3, Pesaro Station to Hotel Perticari: the hotel is at Viale Zara 67, about 1.6 km from the station, and can be reached on foot if you travel light

From Ancona Airport

Ancona Airport (AOI) is much closer to Pesaro and can be very convenient if suitable flights are available.

๐Ÿšถ Step 1: the station Castelferretti-Falconara Aeroporto is directly in front of the terminal, about 3 minutes on foot

๐Ÿ” Step 2: take a regional train to Falconara Marittima, then change and continue north to Pesaro. There is normally no direct airport-to-Pesaro train, and the rail journey takes about 1 hour, depending on the connection

๐Ÿจ Step 3: from Pesaro Railway Station, walk about 1.6 km to the hotel

From Rimini Airport

Rimini Federico Fellini Airport (RMI) is geographically the closest airport, about 36 km from Hotel Perticari, and a good option when convenient flights are available.

๐ŸšŒ Step 1: use local public transport or a taxi to reach Rimini Railway Station

๐Ÿš† Step 2: take a southbound train towards Ancona / Pescara / Lecce and get off at Pesaro. Direct regional trains take around 30 minutes

๐Ÿจ Step 3: the hotel is about 1.6 km from Pesaro Railway Station

Travel Tips from the Organisers

โœˆ๏ธ Bologna (BLQ) is strongly recommended as the main arrival airport; Ancona (AOI) is also very convenient when suitable flights exist; Rimini (RMI) is the closest but may have fewer flight connections

โฑ๏ธ Check train connections before buying flights, and leave enough time between your flight arrival and the train departure

๐Ÿ“… December schedules may change, so always check the latest connections on Trenitalia before travelling

Travel Reimbursement Rules

According to Erasmus+ rules, travel costs are reimbursed based on actual expenses, up to the budget limit set per participant:

โฌ‡๏ธ If you spend less than the limit, you are reimbursed only what you actually paid

โฌ†๏ธ If you spend more than the limit, you are reimbursed only up to the maximum budget, and any amount above the limit is your own expense

๐Ÿ” Check your travel cost limit carefully before buying tickets

โœ… Approval first: before booking, contact your sending organisation to get approval for your travel plan

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Agree the route: once selected, get in touch with the project contact person to agree on the travel route

๐Ÿ’ถ Cheapest option: choose the most economical way to reach the venue; the organisers strongly recommend Skyscanner to search for the cheapest routes

Our guide on how Erasmus+ travel reimbursement works explains the distance bands behind these budgets.

Tickets and Reimbursements

๐Ÿข Travel agencies: booking through a travel agency is not allowed; booking through Kiwi.com or similar websites is fine

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Fares: only basic fares are suitable for reimbursement (you can add priority later in the reservation)

๐Ÿงณ Stored luggage is not reimbursable

๐Ÿ“ธ Physical tickets: a good picture or scan is enough

๐Ÿงพ Keep every document: original physical tickets, boarding passes, invoices, booking confirmations or bills with the ticket price. Documentation is obligatory for reimbursement

๐Ÿ” Both directions: buy all tickets for both directions before the mobility (plane, train, bus etc.), because only real expenses are reimbursed

๐Ÿš• Taxi: travel costs by taxi cannot be refunded

๐Ÿ“ Distance: expenses are compensated up to 100%, based on actual costs and the distance from your place of residence to the project, calculated with the distance calculator supported by the European Commission

๐Ÿฆ Who gets the money: reimbursement is sent only to the sending organisation (or a group leader), who passes it on to participants

โŒ Missing tickets cannot be reimbursed

๐Ÿ’ฑ Other currencies: tickets bought in a currency other than euros are converted using the exchange rates on the official European Commission website

๐Ÿ  Route: participants must travel from the country of the sending organisation, and back

Dissemination Activities Before Reimbursement

Reimbursement is made only after you complete two dissemination activities, designed to give the project visibility and inspire other young people to join Erasmus+:

๐Ÿ“ฒ Social media post: post on your personal social media, tag the hosting organisation and share a meaningful moment from the project

๐Ÿซ Peer meeting: take part in or organise an in-person or online meeting with your peers (for example at a university, youth centre, school or local group) to present your experience, at least one meeting per national team

Intercultural Night

Each national team takes part in an intercultural evening. Please bring:

๐Ÿง† Some typical food or drinks from your country (non-perishable or easy to carry)

๐ŸŽถ A small presentation or activity that represents your culture: songs, dances, games, stories or traditional objects

What to Bring

The programme includes outdoor sessions, group activities and intercultural moments, so come prepared:

๐Ÿงฅ A light jacket or hoodie for cooler evenings

๐Ÿ‘Ÿ Comfortable shoes for walking and physical activities

๐Ÿงด Basic toiletries: soap, shampoo, toothbrush etc.

๐Ÿ’ป At least one laptop per national team for digital tasks and presentations

๐Ÿ›‚ Valid ID card or passport (check the expiry date)

๐Ÿฅ European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), if applicable

๐Ÿฉฑ Swimsuit, sunscreen and a beach towel if you want to enjoy the beach (towels from the accommodation must not be used at the beach)

๐Ÿ‘• Comfortable clothes for warm weather and outdoor activities
