Description

Organic Vegetable Gardens

Being outdoors and growing food for the community will be your daily task. As you start in spring you will experience a full growing season, from the seedling to the harvest. The garden team grows more than 50 different types of vegetables, fruits and herbs using different growing techniques and a variety of tools that you will learn.

Organic Vegetable Gardens + Fruit Orchard

Aside from the vegetable garden, we have some Fruit Orchards where we produce different varieties of apples, pears, peaches, plums, cherries and berries. If you choose this placement, you will work some days in the vegetable garden and some days in the orchard. The main tasks of the orchard are pruning trees, cultivating, mowing grass and preparing trees for harvest, harvesting and storing of fruits.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You will be part of the group of young volunteers called JuLe (German for โ€œyoung peopleโ€) and live together in one area of the village (โ€œJuLe-Platzโ€) creating your own living space together with shared caravans and kitchen. One afternoon per week by a team of experienced facilitators offers time and space to get to know each other as well as permanent young residents. Different methods will be used to work on inner processes and communication including fun and creativity.

Being in a very rural area, there's a bus stop connecting to Wolfsburg and other bigger cities from there.

Training during the activity

German linguistic support is provided as needed by the participants. There's two mandatory trainings organised by the German National Agency, On-Arrival and Mid-Term training. Depending on your level of understanding German language you're also able to join seminars onsite provided by the education centre.
