At Youth Works Hub, we opened four Erasmus+ Youth Exchanges this week, and no two of them are chasing the same thing: one teaches conflict resolution, one uses dance and mindfulness for mental well-being, one turns fermentation into a lesson on self-sufficiency, and one is a straight crash course in job hunting. If you're new to the format, what a Youth Exchange actually is is worth a quick read first, it's a short funded group project for young people from different countries, built around non-formal learning rather than lectures.
All four run under Erasmus+, all four cover accommodation and food in full, and all four reimburse travel on a green-travel basis up to a country-specific ceiling, explained in detail here if you want the exact mechanics. Every participant also leaves with a Youthpass certificate, the EU's own recognition of the skills gained through experiences like these.
Romania's exchange has no fixed deadline, applications are reviewed as they arrive. The other three close fast: Poland on 26 September, Italy on 27 September, and Cyprus on 28 September, all before the end of this month.
Funding across all four follows the same shape: accommodation and meals are fully covered, and travel is reimbursed up to a green-travel ceiling that varies by your country of departure. None charge a participation fee. Age eligibility differs slightly, Romania opens at 16 for participants (group leaders 18+), Poland's floor is a narrower 22, and Italy and Cyprus both start at 18, all four capping at 30.

1. 🇷🇴 Closer than We Think, Turning Conflict into Connection for Young People, Romania

Asociatia GGS runs this exchange in Izvoare, a mountain village in Harghita County, bringing together 10 young people plus 2 group leaders from each of Romania, Bulgaria and Czech Republic, 36 participants in total, to build a practical toolbox for handling conflict: empathy, trigger recognition, active listening, boundaries and de-escalation, worked through role-play and peer mediation across ten days. There is no fixed application deadline, applications are reviewed as they're submitted, so waiting does not improve your chances. Ages 16 to 30, group leaders 18+, accommodation and meals covered, travel reimbursed up to €285 for Romania and Bulgaria and €417 for Czech Republic.
2. 🇵🇱 Dance Your Mind 2.0, Using Movement and Mindfulness for Mental Well-Being, Poland

Fenomen Foundation runs this exchange in Murzasichle, at the foot of Poland's Tatra Mountains, using Hustle dance, body-expression movement, yoga and mindfulness as tools for stress regulation and confidence rather than performance. No dance background is needed. Participants must be aged 22 to 30, a narrower band than the rest of this batch, from Poland, Germany, Italy, France or Czech Republic, with English at B1 level. Accommodation, food and travel are covered, reimbursement ceilings running from €56 for Poland up to €309 for Italy, Germany and France.
3. 🇮🇹 K.E.F.I.R., Fermentation as a Path to a Regenerative Lifestyle, Italy

Torri Superiore Ecovillage runs this exchange inside a restored thirteenth-century village in Liguria, using fermentation as the entry point into bigger questions of self-sufficiency, permaculture and what the organisers call "social fermentation", building towards a closing Fermentation Fair with the local community. Open to ages 18 to 30 from Italy, Spain, Greece and Slovakia, six participants plus one leader per country. The historic venue is not fully accessible to people with severe mobility impairments, worth factoring in before applying. Accommodation, food and programme are fully funded, travel reimbursed up to a country-specific ceiling.
4. 🇨🇾 Career Compass, Pointing the Way to Success in the Job Market, Cyprus

IEEN runs this exchange in Paphos, all-inclusive at Queen's Bay Hotel, built around a professional CV and LinkedIn profile, mapping career paths, practical job-search strategies and interview practice, for participants from Cyprus, Romania, Italy and North Macedonia. Ages 18 to 30, no age limit for group leaders. After selection you get exactly three days to confirm and book your ticket, or the place goes to someone else. Travel is reimbursed against documented costs, from €28 for Cyprus up to €395 for Italy.
Four Youth Exchanges, four completely different reasons to apply. If confronting how you actually handle conflict sounds more useful than avoiding it, Romania's exchange builds a toolbox you can use long after the project ends, and there's no deadline pressure since applications are reviewed on the spot. If your stress relief usually stops at scrolling, Poland's Dance Your Mind 2.0 swaps that for movement, yoga and a partner dance from 1970s New York, no experience required. If self-sufficiency and community interest you more than either of those, Italy's K.E.F.I.R. teaches fermentation inside a medieval Ligurian village, then connects it to permaculture and local life. And if what you actually need is a job, Cyprus's Career Compass is the most direct of the four, a week built entirely around your CV, your LinkedIn and your interview performance. Three of these four close within the next few days, Poland on 26 September, Italy on 27 September, Cyprus on 28 September, so if any of them fit, apply this week rather than next. Romania stays open with no fixed cut-off, but earlier applications get more preparation time with the organisers, not less. Check the age range and eligible countries on each one before you commit, they vary more than usual across this batch.
