At Youth Works Hub we read every vacancy in full before publishing it, and this batch is worth reading slowly: nine international organisation jobs across four countries, with four of them inside the Council of Europe in Strasbourg and two at the United Nations in New York. The rest sit in Brussels and Barcelona. What makes this set unusual is the experience range. Two of the nine explicitly welcome junior candidates, one is capped at two years of post degree experience, and the entry level role in Barcelona asks for no sales experience at all. Alongside those sit senior secondment posts that want three years in anti money laundering or pharmaceutical regulation. Read the Council of Europe group first, because it comes with a condition most people miss. Three of the four Strasbourg posts are secondments, which means your own member State has to second you: you cannot apply as a private individual. Those three are the MONEYVAL programme manager role inside the body that evaluates 33 countries on anti money laundering, and two EDQM posts, one in procurement and one scientific. The EDQM is the organisation behind the European Pharmacopoeia, whose quality standards are legally binding in 39 member states. The fourth Strasbourg job has no secondment requirement and is the most accessible door in this batch: an Assistant Lawyer position in the European Court of Human Rights Estonian law unit, running under the Junior Professionals Programme at Grade B3, with full training on arrival.
The remaining five split between New York and the two Belgian and Spanish roles. The UN is hiring two P-3 officers: one in the Department of Operational Support designing learning and development across the Secretariat, one in DPPA-DPO working on the Central African Republic political file alongside the MINUSCA peace operation. Both want five or more years. In Brussels, CER is hiring a junior transport economist to produce the quantitative evidence behind European rail policy, and IMA-Europe is filling two full time seats in EU chemicals policy where junior candidates are explicitly welcome. And in Barcelona, Venuu is handing someone a Swedish city and asking them to open it. Funding
These are salaried jobs, not funded placements, and the pay structures differ in ways worth understanding before you apply. The United Nations roles pay on the UN common system scale at grade P-3, which is largely tax exempt for international staff. The Council of Europe uses its own grade system; the Assistant Lawyer post is Grade B3 under the Junior Professionals Programme and is limited to four years. The three Strasbourg secondments are paid by your seconding member State rather than by the Council of Europe, which is exactly why the secondment requirement exists. The two Brussels association roles are permanent private sector contracts with no published figure. The Barcelona role publishes its band openly: €20,000 to €26,000 per year on a permanent contract, with hybrid working after onboarding.

You would produce the quantitative evidence behind its policy papers, tear into European Commission Impact Assessments and their assumptions, model rail freight and high speed rail files, and turn transport, trade and energy data into forecasts. Master's in economics with applied micro or policy analysis, one to three years of experience, Excel plus Stata, R or Python. Full time in Brussels, reviewed on a rolling basis.

DPPA-DPO is hiring a P-3 Political Affairs Officer in New York, on its CAR Integrated Operational Team: political analysis, daily support to the MINUSCA peace operation, monitoring developments and advising missions on the ground. Five or more years of experience including African peacekeeping, and English and French are both required.
Four countries, nine jobs, and two employers that most people assume are closed to them. The Council of Europe carries four of the nine, all in Strasbourg, and the United Nations two, both in New York. Brussels holds two association roles in rail policy and chemicals policy, and Barcelona one marketplace launch job. The single most useful thing to notice is that three of the four Council of Europe posts require a secondment from your own member State, which is a different process from a normal application and starts with your national administration rather than with the vacancy page.
Match the role to where you actually are in your career, because this batch spans a wide range. If you are starting out, three doors are genuinely open: the Barcelona launcher role asks for no sales experience, the Brussels chemicals policy posts explicitly welcome junior candidates, and the Strasbourg Assistant Lawyer position caps applicants at two years of post degree experience. If you have three years in a specialised field, the two EDQM secondments want pharmaceutical regulation or procurement, and MONEYVAL wants anti money laundering. If you have five years and international experience, the two UN P-3 posts in New York are the ones to read. Language matters more here than in most batches: the EDQM procurement role and the UN political affairs role both require French alongside English, and the Estonian law post requires Estonian at first language level.
The calendar is tight at the front and looser at the back. One role is already open on a rolling basis in Barcelona. CER closes on 27 September, the two MONEYVAL and EDQM procurement posts on 28 September, the EDQM scientific post on 29 September and IMA-Europe on 30 September. Then it eases: the European Court of Human Rights on 6 October, and the two UN posts on 7 and 8 October. International organisation applications take longer than commercial ones because of the competency question formats, so start with the one closing soonest that you genuinely qualify for.
