Call for participants for this years Global Education Lab: Skill share 03. โ 10. November 2026 in Bern, Switzerland.
This November, we are bringing people together from all over the world to share methods, knowledge and strategies for combating the global ยซcare crisisยป โ and to develop educational formats together.
Global Education Lab is an annual series of skillshare weeks for educators working on global justice, neocolonialism and global supply chains. The skillshare focuses on critical and decolonial pedagogy. It has been organised by Service Civil International since several years.
About the Training
Our focus this year is care and indigeneity. In a world driven by extraction and profit, the ยซCare Crisisยป has become a global phenomenon: essential work like parenting, healthcare, and community maintenance is undervalued. This directly relates to the lack of care we give to our planet. Meanwhile, Indigenous Peoples, who safeguard 80% of the worldโs remaining biodiversity, continue to face dispossession, criminalization, and the erasure of their knowledge systems.
Throughout the week, participants will:
- Exchange knowledge on Indigenous resistance and land defence.
- Explore examples of environmental and Indigenous human rights defenders.
- Discuss alternative economic models based on the commons, reciprocity and Sumak Kawsay (Good Living).
- Co-create educational methods and workshop materials that connect global justice, care and Indigenous perspectives for youth education.
The Lab aims to strengthen the international Global Education network while developing practical educational resources that participants can adapt and use in their own communities.
Practicalities
- Who can participate? Educators, youth workers or activists working on global justice, neocolonialism or global supply chains. Participants should have experience in Global Education or the topic of the Lab โ care and indigeneity.
- Financial conditions: Participation is for free, thanks to the coverage by Movetia Foundation.
- Simple life: We will live as a community during this week! You will sleep in a room shared with a few other people and will be involved in cleaning and cooking tasks.
- Sustainable food: The food we provide will be vegan. This is not just a practical decision, but also an ideological one.
