Description

This volunteering opportunity within the European Solidarity Corps takes place in the western part of the Czech Republic, specifically in the municipalities of Spálené Poříčí, Žinkovy, and Měcholupy, all located within 30 minutes of the regional capital Plzeň. The activities are carried out within the framework of the Local Action Group of St. John of Nepomuk (MAS SJN) and focus on the cultural and social revitalization of rural areas. Due to their geographic remoteness and low population density, the municipalities in this region often lack sufficient facilities for community activities, which are key to strengthening interpersonal relationships and developing local society.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Accommodation is provided and fully covered by the project. There is a private room on the organization’s premises, equipped with a bathroom and a kitchen. The volunteer will receive pocket money of EUR 7 per day. Travel costs to and from the Czech Republic will be reimbursed according to ESC limits. The volunteer will be accommodated directly in Spálené Poříčí, so there is no need for long daily commuting. Lunch will be provided in the school canteen, or there will be the possibility of self-cooking. Bus services connect the town with the city of Pilsen and the national rail network.

Training during the activity

Throughout the volunteering period, the volunteer will be supported by a coordinator and the MAS staff, who will help with adaptation, planning activities, and daily tasks. The volunteer will have the opportunity to develop their skills gradually in a safe and supportive environment.

The volunteer will also have the opportunity to learn the Czech language and get to know the local culture – we offer basic language support and a natural environment for everyday practice.

Participant profile

We are looking for an open-minded, responsible, and flexible person aged between 18 and 30 who is interested in community work and enjoys engaging in meaningful activities. No specific qualifications are required – motivation, willingness to cooperate, and eagerness to learn are what matter most. The volunteer should have at least a basic knowledge of English to facilitate communication with the team and local partners.

The project is also suitable for young people with fewer opportunities who would like to experience international volunteering in a friendly and supportive environment.

A key requirement is the ability to commit to the full duration of two months.
