❗️What Is This Training About?

This training aims to raise the capacity of youth workers to increase the level of global citizenship of young people through street campaigning methodology.

🏘️ How Erasmus+ youth projects create lasting change in local communities. The impact of Erasmus+ goes far beyond the individuals who participate. Local communities, host organisations, and even entire neighbourhoods are shaped by the projects that take place within them. This article explores the broader social impact of Erasmus+ youth exchanges — from building intercultural understanding to empowering grassroots organisations — and makes a compelling case for why these projects matter beyond the personal level. 👉 https://youthworkshub.org/3595/

ℹ️ Description About The Opportunity

Climate change, environmental degradation, and unsustainable consumption patterns are among the most pressing challenges of our time. Young people play a crucial role in driving sustainable change, yet many lack strong motivation to adopt and promote environmentally responsible behaviours.

A global citizen is a person who has a global perspective and mindset, understands the global implications of their actions, takes the responsibility attached to them and is constantly making changes in their lives in order to accommodate their impact on the world in a positive manner.

Public spaces have a huge potential in terms of informing, raising awareness and fostering global citizenship competencies among community members. Street campaigning is an innovative methodology in youth work and is the key methodology tackled by this particular training course. Street Campaigning differs from “traditional” workshops and other indoor activities, and it is very flexible and adaptable to different contexts and topics.

This training will offer the opportunity to different youth workers to explore deeper sustainability topics, responsible global citizenship and develop practical competencies in working with street campaigning.

Some of the advantages of working with street campaigning are:

  • It can reach a large number of people in a relatively short amount of time
  • It can reach people who, maybe, wouldn’t be reached through other methods;
  • It’s very diverse in terms of activities and methods used for engaging with its audience;
  • It offers a great space for creativity and innovation in spreading various messages;
  • It can be implemented in diverse and alternative public spaces;
  • It activates a large spectrum of competencies among the campaigners themselves;
  • It's very visible and attractive to the community members;
  • It has a strong, fun/enjoyable element for everyone involved;

Methodology of the training course

During the training course, participants will explore and understand better global interdependencies, sustainable lifestyle, responsible consumption and climate change topics and get motivated to make changes in their own lifestyle and actions. Further on, the participants will develop practical working competencies in working with the street campaigning methodology as a tool for introducing these topics to young people and general community members.

All participants will receive a copy of a support manual on Street Campaigning, which was developed by one of the trainers!

The training flow:

1) Deeper understanding of various global issues relevant to the project context: global interdependencies, responsible consumption, sustainable lifestyle, climate change, etc.

2) Street Campaigning Methods – discovering various techniques used in street campaigning and developing practical skills in concrete street methods: juggling, clowning, street theatre, games, etc.

3) Designing, Preparing, Implementing and Evaluating a Street Campaign - the participants will go through all the important steps of a street campaign, which they will deliver during the training and implement in a public space.

The learning process will be guided and facilitated by an experienced team with a long history and practice in working with Street Campaigning methodology, as well as Global Education-based projects:

Accommodation and food

Board and lodging for the training course are fully covered by the local organisers during the period mentioned. Participants will be accommodated in dorm-style rooms of 2 to 5 beds (bunk beds). Rooms are simple and without any luxury. Food will be served as a buffet, and it will cater for all dietary needs.

Travel reimbursement

Each participant is free to choose the preferred way of travelling. Due to the organisers' policies and the main training topic, we strongly encourage the use of green travel. If flights are used for more than 50% of the total travel distance (round-trip), the maximum budget allocated will be from the Non-Green travel category!

Use this website (https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/resources-and-tools/distance-calculator ) to find out your distance. This is the official website to be used in order to determine the distance (no other website that calculates distances can be used as evidence). Write at the START, your location, from where you will start your travel and at the END, Balestrand, Norway. You will get a km number as a result, which will correspond to the financial support which you may get for your travel costs. It doesn’t matter in which other cities (or how many) you transfer on the way - the distance is calculated using only the starting and end cities.

The individual maximum budget allowance for travel, per person, is the following:

  • 10 – 99 km 56 EUR (Green Travel)/ 28 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • 100 – 499 km 285 EUR (Green Travel)/ 211 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • 500 – 1999 km 417 EUR (Green Travel)/ 309 EUR (Non-Green Travel)

  • 3000 – 3999 km 785 EUR (Green Travel)/ 580 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • 4000 – 7999 km 1188 EUR (Green Travel) 1188 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
