🔷 Activity Details
Description
From Parkeri NGO ( https://www.instagram.com/asociacionparkeri/ ) we are looking for 1 volunteer to develop their project doing YOUTH WORK and COMMUNITY WORK in RURAL AREA. a) Supporting the activities of social animation in the town of Puentes Viejas (Ludoteca, carnival, local events, children and elderly activities with non-formal education methodologies). Puentes Viejas is composed of 4 villages (Mangirón, Cinco Villas, Serrada de la Fuente and Paredes de Buitrago). b) Supporting the team of La Troje doing Youth work in the high school and street youth work in Lozoyuela. During the break with the children and youngsters and inside the classroom supporting the teachers with non-formal education activities. c) Supporting Parkeri Team in the organization of national and international training courses connected with Youth Work and emotions, self-awareness, interculturality, volunteering, participation, social justice…
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
We are located in a very small village, Serrada de la Fuente, Madrid, Spain. Serrada de la Fuente is located one hour and a half by car from Madrid city center and 2,5 hours away by public transport. Serrada de la Fuente is a beautiful area in the mountains in Madrid, totally rural with 75 inhabitants ( https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serrada_de_la_Fuente ). Parkeri NGO will be in charge of accommodation (2 houses for you and other volunteers to live), for food and transport arrangements according to the European Solidarity Corps standards.
Training during the activity
Parkeri NGO staff are experts on the European Solidarity Corps (trainers on the Programme since 2014), so constant support will be provided to the volunteers. Mandatory trainings, like On Arrival training and Mid Term Evaluation, will be developed according to the Spanish National Agency calendar.
Learning support and mentorship will be provided and Youthpass will be given at the end of the volunteers' projects.
We will also offer the volunteers to participate in trainings connected with non-violent communication, and other non-formal education trainings/activities.
Participant profile
Due to the nature of this volunteer project, a strong willingness to work outside sometimes in cold and hot weather, connect with nature, and to get your hands dirty will be important.
Certain level of flexibility and autonomy will be important, as the tasks will vary a lot depending on the season and connecting with the different teams.
Serrada de la Fuente is a very small town, far from the city of Madrid… this is not a project for volunteers that are looking for an intense social life in a big city.
High motivation to develop the project in a rural area in the mountains. In Parkeri, we believe in INCLUSION, GENDER EQUITY, SOCIAL JUSTICE, SUSTAINABILITY and we have an ANTI-RACIST and DECREASING approach as organization principles.
