This complete guide covers how ESC works, who can apply, what costs are covered, what your daily life as a volunteer looks like, and how to strengthen your application from the start. 🔷 Activity Details

Description

Within this three week volunteering you'll be part of a group of 10 volunteers, getting to know a vibrant intentional community and installing strawbales as insulation for our newest family house in Sieben Linden Ecovillage. You'll learn about sustainable building, clay plastering, community life and other ecovillage skills. The work at the construction site will be after breakfast until lunch, the afternoons are either with the mentor or working for the community and the evenings are either with offers organised by us or free for you to decide. Arrival is on Sunday, September 27th and departure on Saturday, October 17th.

You'll have regular meetings each week with a mentor in group session but also able to ask for one-on-one sessions if needed. Be aware that we don't have WiFi, all internet is cable-bound, usable with adapters (i.e. Ethernet to USB C) and one of our commitments is that within the ecovillage grounds our phones are in flightmode.

More infos in the infopack.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Accommodation will be in shared bedrooms (4 persons per room)! Mostly vegan lunch and dinner will be provided by our amazing community kitchen team. Breakfast will be managed by yourself with ingredients from our cellar and storage space - i.e. bread, spreads, milk, peanut butter, marmalade, fruits, oats... All food is organic. Sieben Linden Ecovillage is easily reachable via Wolfsburg or Salzwedel with the local bus. A detailed description will be provided upon selection confirmation with an infopack.

Training during the activity

We'll organise at least one workshop per week which will be influenced by your particular interest and you'll be able to join some community events (in German language). You'll learn a lot about natural and sustainable building.

Participant profile

Only apply if you’re interested in natural and sustainable building, and you’re keen to learn practical skills to address the climate and biodiversity crisis while experiencing community life in an ecovillage. Be aware that we're in the middle of nowhere and an ecological intentional community. Please use "Dear Sieben Linden" as an address in your letter when you're applying - otherwise we won't consider your application.

You'll receive a confirmation about your participation earliest after the deadline.
