Description
As a volunteer, you will join our enthusiastic, dynamic team: Dharts is the arts education service from our youth centres Destelheide & Hanenbos. We believe in the power of art, creativity and human rights education to bring people together and inspire change.
Your Tasks:
- Content & Communication: Create social media content (photos, videos, interviews). Design promotional materials and help develop our communication strategy.
- Education: Develop workshops, educational packages, and interactive activities around art, human rights, and the environment. Guide groups and children.
- Project Support: Assist with the practical organization, logistics, and registrations for projects and events.
- Artists & Groups: Welcome guests and artists-in-residence at Destelheide and Hanenbos. Act as their contact person, facilitate reflection moments, and support showcases.
- Creative Input: Share your unique talents and bring a fresh perspective to our projects.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
- Accommodation: Private room provided in a suitable house shared exclusively with other ESC volunteers, next to the youth centre Destelheide.
- Food: Free meals at the restaurant when open. Rebursements for out-of-stock food items, plus a €95/month allowance for outside meals.
- Transport: Full coverage of visa costs and outward/return travel expenses. Local transport support of €35/month is provided.
- Pocket Money: Daily allowance paid monthly, fully compliant with the current ESC regulations for Belgium
Training during the activity
- attend Dutch lessons at a school;
- Develop skills in arts education, communication, human rights education and content creation;
- Gain experience in social media management, photography, video production and graphic design;
- Learn how international youth projects are developed and implemented;
- Build self-confidence and discover your strengths and interests;
- Learn to work independently while also becoming a strong team player;
- Meet people from different countries and cultures and expand your European network;
- Improve your intercultural competences and understanding of diversity;
Participant profile
We are looking for two young individuals (18-30 years old) who:
· are interested in art, human rights and youthwork;
· enjoy photography, video making and creative communication;
· have experience with editing tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign or Illustrator (or are willing to learn);
· are interested in social media and communication;
· enjoy creative processes and artistic activities;
· like working with children and young people;
· are proactive, open-minded and willing to take initiative;
· have good communication and social skills;
· can work both independently and in a team;
· have a flexible attitude and are occasionally willing to work during evenings or weekends when activities require it (with time off in compensation);
· are motivated to learn Dutch;
· are eager to become involved in different projects and teams within our youth centres.
