Can a comic strip make youth work more inclusive? DRAW-IN for Youth Work, "Drawing Inclusion through Comics for Youth Work", is an Erasmus+ KA153-YOU Training Course that equips youth workers with digital comics and visual storytelling tools to promote inclusion, participation, EU values, and intercultural dialogue among young people with fewer opportunities across Europe. The Training Course takes place in Munich, Germany, and gathers 32 youth workers from eight countries for a creative, hands-on European learning experience.

This mobility is the first step of a complete learning journey. Participants are co-creators, not only attendees: the project runs through preparation, the Training Course in Munich, local pilot workshops in each country, a Study Visit in Eskişehir (Türkiye) in November, and follow-up activities, all feeding into a shared Digital Comics Toolkit.

🎯 About the Project

DRAW-IN for Youth Work is designed to improve the quality, creativity, and inclusiveness of youth work. It brings together 32 youth workers from eight countries to explore how digital comics and visual storytelling can support non-formal education, transforming complex topics such as inclusion, democracy, citizenship, and human rights into accessible visual stories. Throughout the process, participants learn, test, adapt, and share comics-based methods for working with refugees, migrants, NEETs, and other young people with fewer opportunities.

The project's main goals are to:

🎨 Develop digital and creative competences

🤝 Strengthen inclusive youth work

🧩 Create practical and reusable methods

🗳️ Promote citizenship and European values

🌍 Strengthen European cooperation

🖍️ The Training Course in Munich

The first mobility is a seven-day Training Course in Munich (28 August to 5 September 2026) that prepares participants to use digital comics and visual storytelling as practical tools for more creative, accessible, and inclusive youth work. The working language is English.

During the week, participants will:

✏️ Get practical training in digital comics and visual storytelling, creating comics, storyboards, and visual educational materials on inclusion, migration, human rights, democracy, citizenship, and intercultural dialogue

🎭 Take part in role plays and simulations on inclusion and discrimination, plus discussions and World Café sessions

🤝 Exchange with local young people and youth professionals

🧠 Join international teamwork and workshop-design laboratories, then design workshops to test at home

📓 Reflect daily and document their learning for Youthpass

By the end of the mobility, participants will have created digital comics and designed comics-based workshops to run with young people in their local communities, contributing their materials and experiences to the Digital Comics Toolkit.

🇹🇷 The Study Visit in Eskişehir

The second mobility is a Study Visit in Eskişehir, Türkiye, in November, where the same 32 youth workers build on what they learned in Munich. They observe inclusive youth work in practice, meet local youth workers and professionals, run practical comics-based activities with young people, and improve the methods they tested in their communities. The Study Visit strengthens cooperation between the partners and supports the continued use of visual storytelling in local youth work. Participants must have valid travel and health insurance covering the full mobility period in Türkiye, and should bring their pilot-workshop results, digital materials, and a laptop or tablet when possible.

🧠 Learning Methods

The project uses non-formal education, digital creativity, and visual storytelling, and everything follows the cycle Do, Reflect, Learn, and Apply.

🎨 Digital comics, storyboards, and visual narratives to explore inclusion, citizenship, and human rights

💬 Discussions, simulations, role plays, and World Café activities on migration, discrimination, citizenship, and human rights

🤝 International teamwork where participants exchange experiences, challenges, and youth work methods

🪞 Daily reflection through group discussions, feedback, learning diaries, and Youthpass

Methods are adapted to different needs and communication levels, and every participant is encouraged to contribute, express ideas, and take an active role.
