Description

APPLY HERE: https://forms.gle/NQeH4rF4VcT5bL7b9 Jugendwerk is a non-profit youth organization based in Stuttgart, Germany focusing on non-formal education, intercultural learning, youth mobility, and youth camps. This means we organize summer camps for kids and teens, international youth exchanges, seminars for young people and have local projects focusing on intercultural learning. As one of three ESC volunteers in Jugendwerk, you will support and develop intercultural projects such as Active Culture and Spracheteria, help the team with office tasks and materials for the seminars and camps, the preparation of youth camps and educational activities and create social media content. Depending on your interests, there is the opportunity to help lead a summer camp or develop a small project on your own.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Jugendwerk will arrange free accommodation in a student residence 2 minutesโ€™ walk from the Jugendwerk office, with a shared kitchen and bathroom facilities and your own furnished room. It is very close to the city center (walking distance) and perfectly connected to public transportation. Additionally, we provide a "Deutschlandticket" for public transport in all of Germany and access to a bike for transportation around the city. You will receive monthly pocket money and food allowance according to ESC guidlines.

Training during the activity

During your volunteering, you will attend two trainings organized by the German National Agency (on-arrival and mid-term training). You also have the possibility to attend one of youth leader trainings and get the certification (JULEICA) to facilitate summer camps for kids and teens. As part of this, you can also have a first aid course. There is also the possibility to explore many of the other seminars we are organizing year round on various topis, if you are interested. We also provide a German course depending on your level to help your language learning and integration at the beginning.

Participant profile

We are looking for an open-minded, reliable, and motivated volunteer with basic German and/or intermediate English skills who is interested in intercultural learning and youth work. You should enjoy working both independently and as part of a team, as you will join an international group of volunteers sharing responsibilities in the office. We highly value initiative, engagement, and creativity, and encourage volunteers to contribute their own ideas and projects. Basic computer and social media skills are welcome, as well as an interest in office tasks, event organization, and communication. A valid driving licence (manual) and a hands-on mentality is a big plus! We are able host volunteers with fewer opportunities. Please state the type of support you need in your application and we will get in touch with you.
