This position is located at UNEP's Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, Thailand. Under the overall supervision of the Regional Director and the direct supervision of the Regional Coordinator for Finance and Economic Transformations, the intern will be responsible for the duties below.

๐Ÿ’ถ Redirecting Public Finance

Support the work of UNEP in the region on redirecting public finance, with an increasing number of governments unlocking and re-directing finance to climate, nature and pollution actions:

๐Ÿ“Š Researching the state of sustainable finance and investment trends for identified priority countries in the region

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Supporting engagement of Finance Ministries in the roll out of the Guide of the Coalition of Finance Ministers on Climate Change

๐ŸŒฟ Research on tools and methodologies for assessing risks from nature impacts of investments

๐Ÿฆ Supporting UNEP FI

๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Creating a database of Central Bank contact points and analysis of policies and regulations on climate and nature risk assessment

๐ŸŒ Research and analysis of nature taxonomies globally and their adoption and use in the region

๐ŸŽค Support the organization of two webinars for the NZNP taxonomy developed by UNEP FI

โœ… Qualifications and Special Skills

๐ŸŽ“ Applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme, meaning a second university degree or equivalent or higher, or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme, meaning minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent

๐Ÿ“š Applicants must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated, within 1 year, from a master's or PhD programme with a focus on Finance, Climate Change Financing or a related area

๐Ÿ’ผ Prior experience in climate change and financing would be an advantage, while professional work experience is not required for the UN Internship Programme

๐Ÿ’ป Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Teams

โœ๏ธ Ability to draft news articles and social media posts is desirable

๐Ÿ“‹ Ability to design surveys and polls is desirable

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
