🔷 Activity Details
Description
APRODEH works to defend and promote human rights through its offices in Lima, Ayacucho, Apurímac and Huancavelica. Its work focuses on strategic litigation and strengthening women’s organisations, LGBTIQ+ groups, Andean producers and victims of political violence, with priorities including gender equality, agroecology, historical memory, and social and political advocacy. Based in Lima and working closely with the Executive Director and the four regional offices, the volunteer will: Identify funding opportunities for innovative human rights projects. Support the design of international cooperation projects using intercultural, gender and intersectional approaches. Organise virtual portfolios with national and regional information for project development. Create monitoring tools for the Strategic and Annual Operational Plans. Compile regional cost information and propose a system for regular updates. Present the portfolios and participate in monitoring meetings.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
APRODEH will arrange suitable accommodation with a private lockable bedroom, access to a bathroom, living and dining areas, kitchen, laundry facilities, reliable internet, kitchenware and a refrigerator. It will be located in a safe area near the office, within walking distance or a short bus ride, and close to essential services. APRODEH will co-sign the rental agreement as guarantor and ensure that the rent is paid monthly.
Training during the activity
The volunteer will receive training on APRODEH’s areas of work, with greater focus on the priorities of the 2026 Annual Operational Plan and relevant experiences from other organisations. They will develop skills in knowledge management, project management, monitoring tool design, and the preparation of evidence-based content on priority and emerging issues or funding opportunities. They will also review ongoing projects and reports and join peer-learning sessions on Peru, the regions of intervention and the political context.
Participant profile
Ideally, the volunteer should share APRODEH’s values of respect for human rights, equality and solidarity, and be motivated to improve the lives of vulnerable people. A background in strategic planning or development cooperation is desirable, together with basic knowledge of human rights. The candidate should be willing to learn about Peruvian culture, have strong organisational and research skills, and be able to write clearly in Spanish. Knowledge of Peru or Latin America is an asset.
