Do you want to help teenagers gain confidence in English while experiencing authentic Catalan life near Barcelona? Masquefa Public Secondary School is offering an Erasmus+ internship as an English Language Assistant, supporting language learning with students aged 12 to 18.

About the School

Institut de Masquefa is a public secondary school located in Masquefa, Catalonia. Interns join an international and supportive educational environment and have the opportunity to participate actively in school life. Masquefa is a welcoming town approximately one hour from Barcelona by public transport, offering the chance to experience authentic Catalan life while having easy access to Barcelona and its cultural activities.

The Role

The intern works mainly with the English Department and English teachers, supporting language learning activities with students aged 12 to 18. The role focuses on helping students improve their spoken English, developing intercultural awareness and experiencing the daily life of a Catalan secondary school.

What You'll Do

🍎 Assist English teachers during classroom activities and English lessons.

💬 Support students through conversation activities and interactive language practice, and encourage them to communicate in English in real-life situations.

📝 Collaborate with teachers in preparing classroom materials and activities.

🌍 Participate in international and intercultural projects, support innovative teaching activities and observe different teaching methodologies.

Who Can Apply

🎓 Undergraduate or postgraduate students in Education and Teacher Training, English Studies, Languages and Linguistics, Social Sciences, Humanities or other areas connected with secondary education. Previous professional experience is not required.

🗣️ C1-level English is mandatory, B1-level German is optional, and knowledge of Catalan or Spanish is welcome but not required. Candidates should have an interest in language teaching and working with teenagers, good communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate with teachers and students, motivation to join educational and intercultural activities, flexibility, initiative and a positive attitude.

Mandatory Erasmus+ Requirements

📋 Only candidates who meet all the following will be considered: participation in an Erasmus+ Internship Programme with an Erasmus+ grant, a valid Erasmus+ project code, an approved Learning Agreement for Traineeships, valid health insurance and mandatory civil liability insurance. All required documentation must be submitted before the internship begins.

The Details

📍 Location: Masquefa, Catalonia, Spain.

📅 Two possible periods: 8 January to 19 March 2027, or 30 March to 21 June 2027 (3 months). Full-time from 8:00 to 14:30, Monday to Friday, with flexible organisation according to Erasmus+ requirements and academic needs. The school is closed during July and August, and mentoring and support are provided by the English teachers and the school team throughout.

💶 Compensation: this opportunity is unpaid and must be carried out within an Erasmus+ Internship Programme with grant support. The school helps candidates with accommodation information and support.
