Do you want a once-in-a-generation chance to help stage the biggest Olympic and Paralympic Games in history? The LA28 Volunteer Program presented by Delta Air Lines is now casting a crew of 60,000 volunteers to bring the magic of the Los Angeles 2028 Games to life, and applications open on 14 July 2026.
About the LA28 Games
In the summer of 2028, over 15,000 elite athletes will come to Los Angeles for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The 2028 Games mark Los Angeles' third time hosting the Olympics, after 1932 and 1984, and its first time welcoming the Paralympics. A creative epicenter known as the storytelling capital of the globe, Los Angeles is built for large-scale live events, and LA28 will leverage the region's existing infrastructure and rich history of sport and entertainment to deliver a sustainable and fiscally responsible Games. LA28 will deliver targeted programs to catalyze economic growth, an investment of $160 million to elevate local youth sports, and a venue plan that, for the first time since 1948, avoids the environmental impacts of new permanent sports venue construction.
Originally launched at the London 1948 Olympic Games, the Olympic and Paralympic Volunteer Program is the heartbeat of the Games. At the last Los Angeles Games in 1984 more than 30,000 volunteers participated, and most recently at Paris 2024 over 35,000 volunteered. LA28 will bring together 60,000 dedicated volunteers to set the stage for an epic Games.
The Role of a Lifetime
The LA28 Volunteer Crew are the behind-the-scenes movers, makers and shakers who set the stage and keep it running smoothly for the athletes, fans and organizers. Games-time volunteering means giving your time and energy during the Olympic and Paralympic periods and the time leading up to, between and after them, from guiding guests and athletes to more specialized roles. One moment, one interaction, one "Welcome, can I help you?" can turn an ordinary experience into an extraordinary one.
Volunteer Role Categories
Volunteer positions span eight distinct categories, and you will indicate your top three preferences in the application. LA28 will do its best to honor preferences but cannot guarantee your top choices.

The Journey to Joining the Crew
๐ Application: fill out and submit your application in the Games-time volunteer portal. It takes about 30 minutes and does not need to be done in one sitting. No preference or priority is given to the order in which applications are received, and there will be an announcement at least seven days before it closes.
๐งโ๐คโ๐ง Assessment: if selected from the initial applicant pool, you will be invited to the Volunteer Experience Center in Los Angeles for an in-person assessment consisting of group activities evaluating teamwork, collaboration, communication and alignment with the spirit of the Games. If you are selected and not located in LA, a virtual experience mirroring the in-person process will be made available. Assessment invitations are distributed on a rolling basis throughout 2027.
๐ค Offer and acceptance: if selected for a role, you will be notified by email and receive an offer in the portal, which you must accept there. Your acceptance is contingent on completion of a background check. Some applicants not initially offered a role may be invited to join a voluntary waitlist.
๐ Training: all volunteers participate in a comprehensive, mandatory training program with role-specific and venue-specific trainings, delivered in person and/or online.
๐ Shift schedule: your schedule will be available in the portal several weeks before your first shift, and you can accept, decline or sign up for additional shifts as your schedule permits.
๐ฝ Accreditation and uniform: collect your official accreditation and uniform in person. Accreditation gives access to the venues you need, and at the end of your shift commitments you are welcome to keep your uniform as a memento of your service.
LA28's Commitments to Volunteers
โ Scheduled rest and meal breaks during each shift, plus mandatory days off within your assignment period to support rest and well-being.
๐ก๏ธ Clear scheduling information, safe conditions, role clarity, training, tools and access to Games technology, a respectful, inclusive and harassment-free environment, and access to LA28-provided medical stations with first aid and emergency care while performing volunteer duties.
Costs: Travel, Housing and Visa
โ๏ธ Volunteers, whether or not they live near their assigned post, are responsible for arranging their own travel, housing and, if applicable, visa-related requirements. LA28 is unable to provide reimbursement or support for these personal expenses. As a transit-first Games, there is no parking at venues, and volunteers should expect to use public transit.
๐ Volunteering is grounded in free will and service to others, without compensation. Volunteers give their time, skills and energy to bring the Games to life.
