About the Role

UNOPS has signed an agreement with the United Nations to implement activities for the UN Youth Office, established in 2022 as a dedicated entity for youth affairs within the UN Secretariat. The Youth Office leads engagement and advocacy for the advancement of youth issues across peace and security, sustainable development, and human rights. Working with the UN Youth Office teams, the Youth Engagement Intern supports several youth engagement portfolios, including flagship events, intergovernmental processes, the UN Youth Compass, advocacy, policy, and communications.

Key Functions

๐ŸŽช Support flagship events and intergovernmental processes, including the High-level Political Forum and UN General Assembly high-level week, through background notes, briefing packages, talking points, and concept notes

๐Ÿ” Conduct desk research to inform youth-related inputs into intergovernmental discussions and high-level events, and prepare event documentation and analytical summaries

๐Ÿงญ Support implementation of the UN Youth Compass through desk research, knowledge mapping, online resources, and guidance materials on meaningful youth engagement

๐Ÿ“ฃ Provide advocacy and policy support through background notes, tracking of relevant processes, and policy research

๐Ÿ“ฑ Support communications through briefs, talking points, web and social content, and outreach around high-visibility moments, amplifying youth voices

Who Can Apply

๐ŸŽ“ Enrolled in a university programme (Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD) or graduated within the last three years

๐Ÿ’ผ Introductory experience in project research, coordination, or administration is desired; familiarity with the UN and computer literacy are assets; experience in the Middle East region is a strong advantage

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Fluency in English is required; Arabic, French, Russian, Spanish, or Chinese are desirable
