About the Organisation

The OPCW internship programme provides motivated students with placements in the Technical Secretariat for three to six months, working with international experts towards a world permanently free of chemical weapons. The Office of Confidentiality and Security sits within the Office of the Director-General: its Operations Security Section provides safe workplaces and protects OPCW assets, while the Confidentiality and Information Security Section protects information and communication systems.

Purpose of the Internship

You will assist in the OPCW's security risk management processes, carrying out supporting administrative and research tasks with a specific focus on travel security risks. You will learn about the United Nations Security Management System's approaches to managing threat and risk information, and monitor and report on the security environment in areas of interest.

Your Tasks

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Provide administrative and research support for security and travel security risk management procedures

๐Ÿ”Ž Carry out checks in established systems and conduct open-source research on topics of interest

๐Ÿ“Š Support data capture, collection, collation, and dissemination of security threat information

๐Ÿ“ Support the preparation of security briefing and presentation materials for travel and general security awareness

๐Ÿ”ฌ Conduct and coordinate research on specific threats and support analysis of factors of insecurity

Who Can Apply

๐ŸŽ“ Enrolled in and having completed at least one year of a university degree, or in a graduate programme, or graduated within one year before the internship

๐ŸŒ A citizen of an OPCW Member State (which includes Tรผrkiye), fluent in written and spoken English

๐Ÿ” An international security, strategic, or intelligence studies background is desirable, along with knowledge of information collection and analysis methodologies, OSINT methods, and Python or other programming for OSINT automation
