About POLIS

POLIS is the leading European network of cities and regions on urban transport innovation. Since 1989, European local and regional authorities have been working together within POLIS to promote sustainable mobility through the deployment of innovative transport solutions. POLIS aims to improve local transport through integrated strategies that address the economic, social and environmental dimensions of transport, supporting the exchange of experiences and the transfer of knowledge between members and facilitating dialogue with mobility stakeholders from the private sector, research centres, universities and NGOs. By fostering these partnerships, POLIS makes research and innovation in transport more accessible and scalable, and acts as the voice of its members towards the European institutions to help shape EU mobility policy. Today POLIS brings together 129 cities, regions and related entities across five thematic pillars and 15 Working Groups and Taskforces.

The Role

The Intern will help to enhance the visibility of POLIS and its members from across Europe as part of the Communications team:

๐Ÿ“ฑ Manage POLIS social media profiles and the social media calendar, and collect POLIS social media analytics from LinkedIn, Bluesky and Instagram.

โœ๏ธ Draft articles for the POLIS website and Members' Area.

๐Ÿ“ฐ Support the production and publication of digital and print publications, including POLIS' Cities in Motion magazine.

๐ŸŽฌ Produce short video clips and visual content for all of POLIS' digital channels.

๐Ÿค Provide, when needed, communications support for POLIS projects and Working Groups under the guidance of the Communications and Membership Lead.

๐Ÿ—’๏ธ Take notes and report on in-person and online events to support communications activities, and assist with other communications tasks as required.

๐ŸŽช Support the preparation and editing of the Annual POLIS Conference communications materials, assist the Conference Team with printing, organising and displaying signage at the venue, and handle ad hoc conference-related tasks as needed.

Who Can Apply

๐ŸŽ“ A completed degree, preferably in the field of communications/journalism or related to transport, urban planning or similar.

๐Ÿ“ฃ First-hand experience with communications, journalism or public relations, including to some degree online content development (drafting news and events for websites and social media posts), website content management (a good understanding of WordPress is a plus), social media management (experience on LinkedIn, Bluesky and Instagram is a plus) and visual content development (an eye for graphic design and knowledge of Canva is an asset).

๐Ÿšฒ An interest in urban mobility, and an excellent command of written and spoken English (knowledge of additional European languages is an asset).

๐Ÿ›‚ The legal right to work in Belgium. POLIS cannot provide visa sponsorship, and candidates must already hold the necessary residence or work authorisation to work in Belgium.

What's Offered

๐Ÿ’ถ A full-time, six-month internship with a monthly allowance of โ‚ฌ1,095, paid in accordance with the Belgian CIP scheme, offering hands-on experience with a diverse range of communication activities in an international context.

The Details

๐Ÿ“ Location: Brussels, Belgium. Candidates should be willing to relocate to Brussels if not already based there.

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Full-time, six months, starting on 28 September 2026. The role is primarily on-site, with a hybrid arrangement allowing some work from home within Belgium according to internal guidelines, and a limited period of remote working possible over the Christmas holidays.
