Are you an aspiring finance professional looking to gain experience in an international organization? The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR Research Center, is seeking enthusiastic students to join its Finance Department at its headquarters in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

About IWMI

IWMI is an international, research for development organization that works with governments, civil society and the private sector to solve water problems in developing countries and scale up solutions. Through partnerships, it combines research on the sustainable use of water and land resources, knowledge services and products with capacity strengthening, dialogue and policy analysis. Headquartered in Colombo, IWMI has offices in 17 countries and a network of scientists in more than 55 countries, and was recognized with the Stockholm Water Prize in 2012. Scope of the Internship

The intern assists the Finance Department and gains a broad understanding of accounting procedures and processes in an international organization, the role of international donors in supporting research, and experience with an enterprise resource planning system, interacting with staff at headquarters and regional offices.

What You'll Do

๐Ÿ“Š Maintain financial reports and invoicing databases and generate reports as required.

๐Ÿ’ณ Assist with accounting for donor receipts in the SAP ERP system, and for interest accrued on donor funds.

๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Gather supporting documents for transactions recorded in SAP, ensuring they meet donor requirements in project agreements.

๐Ÿค Coordinate with regional offices when documents are referred to project financial audits, and ensure printed copies are provided for donors and external auditors.

โš™๏ธ Support continuous improvement of systems and processes.

๐Ÿ“ Prepare draft transaction listings, financial and accrual reports, and financial schedules for the project closing provision account, plus ad hoc work.

Who Can Apply

๐ŸŽ“ Registered or part qualified students with CA Sri Lanka, CIMA, AAT or ACCA.

๐Ÿ“˜ Undergraduates or fresh graduates with a bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance or Accounting.

Excellent written and oral English, ability to comprehend complex material, proficiency in MS Excel and Word (accounting software an advantage), strong self motivation, teamwork and integrity are required. This is a nationally recruited internship and only Sri Lankans are eligible to apply.

The Details

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Duration: an initial 6 months, extendable by another 6 months based on performance, needs and funding.
