La Gare Franche / Le ZEF is an atypical place located in the 15th arrondissement of Marseille whose activities are concentrated around the shared garden and its theater. It is a place of exchange, sharing and welcome between the inhabitants of the district, the team of the Gare Franche / Le ZEF and the artists in residence. Your missions : Hosting groups (school groups, social centers groups) at the community garden for workshops Welcoming residents to the compost area Maintaining the community garden (watering, cutting, pruning, weeding, mowing, etc.) and making minor repairs (water tank, sheds, bread oven) Maintaining the chicken coop Supporting the organization of the “Nature and the Commons” event bringing together 40 partners focused on urban agriculture (in May) Cooking workshops (“From Garden to Plate”) at the media library Cooking workshop to prepare snacks for the “Ciné Marmot” (children’s movie screening)
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Duration 12 months From september 2026 Working hours 30 hours per week From monday until friday Accomodation Shared flat (single room) with other volunteers close from the city center. The apartment isn’t close to the Gare Franche / le ZEF : you’ll have to go by bus (45 minutes) or by train (15 minutes). Allowance and advantages 450 euros / month Budget for the travel (and visa if needed) Insurance (Henner) Zou card to travel in the region by train and bus with a 90% discount. RTM local transportation (metro, tramway and buses in Marseille).
