Description

This project is located in the beautiful town of Stykkishólmur, working on diverse tasks related to nature, environment and outdoor recreation. The main tasks of the project will be environmentally related, such as clipping, sawing branches and chopping (some) trees in the forest to open for the forestry paths and clear the working area around the forests; walking paths maintenance and hiking trails laying. The well maintained paths enable people to visit these amazing areas without damaging the surroundings and in addition SEEDS volunteers’ work helps to improve safety for visitors. The group can be split up for different projects, but it will never be less than two working together. The working day normally runs from 09:00 - 17:00 with breaks for lunch and coffee. No previous experience is necessary but the work is demanding and might require a good physical condition.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers will live and sleep in the facilities of the local school in shared rooms. The facilities are basic, mattresses will be provided by the host and there is a fully equipped kitchen and bathrooms in the school, while the showers will be at the local swimming pool, volunteers will receive a full-access pass to the swimming pool. Please bring your own sleeping bag, swim gear and towel. Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. All young people will be able to access this Volunteer Project. No specific qualification is needed to collaborate in the program, but it is considered convenient that the volunteers have a predisposition to the activities carried out in the Association and are committed to them. Volunteers who are ready to adapt to the environment and be able to lead some of the activities or groups, with a positive spirit and creativity and environmental awareness.
