About the Organisation

EFFAT, the European Federation of Food, Agriculture and Tourism Trade Unions, is recruiting a Project Officer to join its Secretariat in Brussels. The position supports EFFAT's work on transnational companies, European Works Councils (EWCs), and key EU-funded projects, including activities on organising, capacity building, and trade union renewal.

About the Role

As Project Officer for Transnational Companies, you will support the Secretariat's work in transnational companies and play a key role in implementing projects that enhance social dialogue and establish new European Works Councils in major transnational companies. Your role will be especially important in two new projects: the EFFAT Academy on capacity building, which develops trainings and supporting tools for affiliates on capacity building, trade union renewal, and organising; and an EFFAT project on European Works Councils, which aims to establish new EWCs in key transnational companies and develop new tools for EWC members on Due Diligence and Just Transition. You will also assist affiliates in establishing EWCs alongside EFFAT's wider political work.

Main Tasks

๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Handle the project(s) on a day-to-day basis

๐Ÿ“‘ Support administrative and political work around EU projects

๐Ÿค Support the Secretariat in coordinating union action in key transnational companies

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Support the establishment of new European Works Councils

๐Ÿ“‹ Support the Secretariat in implementing the EFFAT policy on organising

๐ŸŽช Coordinate and prepare internal and external meetings and events in Brussels and abroad, including administrative and logistical aspects

๐Ÿ“ž Liaise with affiliates, providers, and project experts in preparation of events

๐ŸŒ Update content on EFFAT's website, extranet, and social media channels

๐Ÿ“จ Assist in the preparation and dissemination of circulars and communications

๐Ÿ“ Prepare material, presentations, minutes, policy briefings, and documents for meetings, calls, and conferences

โš–๏ธ Become familiar with the EU social acquis, in particular the legal framework on Due Diligence and information and consultation rights

โœŠ A strong commitment to trade union values and social justice

๐Ÿ“š Familiarity with union organising strategies is an asset

โš–๏ธ Familiarity with EU social policy legislation, including European Works Councils and human rights due diligence, is an asset

๐Ÿ’ผ Prior experience in trade unions, social movements, and campaigns, and in EU project management, is an advantage

๐Ÿ’ถ The ability to engage in responsible financial oversight of activities and projects within budgetary limitations

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Excellent written and spoken English (native or equivalent); other languages are an asset

โœ๏ธ Excellent writing, editing, presentation, and communication skills
