Description
We are looking for a dedicated and motivated ESC volunteer who wants to actively contribute to creating positive change for the well-being of the LGBTIQ+ community in Slovenia. You will have the opportunity to work with the biggest LGBTIQ+ organization in Slovenia within a dynamic and supportive team that covers a wide range of activities, from co-creating safer spaces for young LGBTIQ+ people to advocacy. As a volunteer, you will: contribute to maintaining and co-creating a safer space for LGBTIQ+ youth in Slovenia by volunteering in the first and only LGBTIQ+-specific youth center in the country; help with managing social media for our Youth program; assist in organizing events; contribute to raising awareness; provide information and promote equality within the community; develop and implement your own project. We can also offer learning from our other programs that cover different topics: HIV and sexual health; legal counseling; social media and promotion, project management.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
We make an individual arrangement with every volunteer on housing depending on their preference: you can either find accommodation yourself and get monthly allowance for the rent, or we can provide it for you - in that case, the accommodation will be in a shared apartment in Ljubljana, connected to the location of the volunteering with public transport. The volunteer will receive a monthly payment for public transport in the amount of the monthly bus ticket, daily food allowance, and pocket money.
Training during the activity
We provide all the basic necessary training and additional training opportunities within our fields of work on more specific topics that our volunteers might be interested in. Upon arrival, you will get your own coordinator and work mentor. We will also provide you with a free-time mentor that will help you through the process of assimilation into the new environment. You will also attend the trainings provided by the National Agency in Slovenia. We will also help you with learning some of the basics of the Slovenian language.
Participant profile
We are looking for a volunteer who is eager to learn more about how to work with LGBTIQ+ people and on LGBTIQ+ related topics, for a duration between 10 and 12 months. Previous knowledge on these topics is welcome, but not necessary. The project will require the volunteer to be able to work in a team, as well as independently. We are looking for someone passionate about building a more inclusive society and who is eager to gain experience in advocacy and working with youth. If you are ready to gain valuable experience that will shape you both personally and professionally, we invite you to join us!
