Description
Porcikomodi project is part of the Vitadacani initiative, an animal welfare organisation active in the protection and care of animals in Italy. This project is an animal welfare initiative based in Magnago, Italy, dedicated to giving a second chance to animals in need. The project has two parts: a sanctuary for rescued farm animals and a dog shelter for dogs that require medical assistance and live with chronic health issues. The sanctuary welcomes animals that are usually considered food and have been rescued, freed, or saved from situations of exploitation and suffering. The project does not ask about the animalsโ origins and does not maintain any economic relationship with those who exploit or trade animals as commod
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteers will share a DOUBLE room in the simple apartment. Volunteer will receive 6 euros per day as pocket money, and 160 euros per month for food. While in shelter volunteer must adhere to VEGETARIAN diet, but outside of it the volunteers will be free to eat whatever they want. Please note, that location of house and shelter is in a SMALL TOWN and remote area, at least 1 hour away from big city.
Training during the activity
Volunteers will have On Arrival Training from the National Agency. They will receive task-specific training related to animal care, security and hygiene in the shelter and communication tasks.

Background in veterinary, biology or related fields, previous work in shelters, pet-sitting, or having animals at home - preferably dogs. Ready to "get hands dirty", get up early, and do physical tasks (like cleaning the animal shelter, do long walks, stay outside). Ready to live in remote area. Enthusiastic and open person. Preferably adhering to the organization's lifestyle (antispecism, vegetarian) or willing to adapt to it during the activities. Understanding of social media like TikTok and Instagram is a plus.
