Description
Join our Humanitarian Aid programme in Asikuma, Ghana, where you'll immerse in a vibrant community known for its cultural richness. Volunteers will address critical needs in education, healthcare, and community development. Tasks include assisting healthcare professionals, teaching, supporting infrastructure projects, providing language aid, facilitating youth programs, and conducting research. Your contribution will foster sustainable development and enhance community resilience. Make a lasting impact while experiencing a life-changing journey of learning and cultural exchange.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers will enjoy private rooms and proximity to the project. Meals will be provided at home by the project in collaboration with ICYE Ghana. Living alongside local and foreign volunteers allows for quick integration into the community.
Training during the activity
Volunteers receive extensive online pre-departure training covering the ESC Humanitarian Aid Framework, healthcare, roles and responsibilities, security, communication, critical thinking and self-care. On arrival, further training is provided by the host organisation. A qualified mentor supports integration into community activities. A mid-term evaluation takes place after about three months, followed by a final follow-up meeting 2โ3 months after return. Continuous support is ensured throughout the entire period.

Seeking passionate, motivated individuals dedicated to youth development, education, healthcare, and inclusivity. Applicants should advocate for equal education access, skills empowerment, gender equality, safe spaces, mentorship, and role models. We encourage diverse backgrounds and genuine interest in impacting Ghanaian youth, girls, and local communities positively. Eligibility: Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
