The European Investment Fund (EIF) is recruiting a Trainee โ€“ Mandate Management for its European Commission Mandates Unit, within the Product Design and Mandate Development for EC and EIB Division (Mandate Design and Product Development Department), at its headquarters in Luxembourg.


Specific Post Environment

The Product Design and Mandate Development for EC and EIB Division is part of the Mandate Design and Product Development Department, Investment Office. Its main objective is relationship management and the development and implementation of mandates from the European Commission and EIB. The trainee joins the European Commission Mandates Unit, which is responsible for managing InvestEU, the largest mandate under EIF's management from the European Commission.



Overall Objective

Develop a more robust business analytics system for the management of InvestEU. You will contribute by:

๐Ÿ” Assisting with data quality reviews in the corporate information management system, contributing to more robust analytical insights into InvestEU's deployment status, and gaining a direct overview of policy objectives and EIF's product offering under the mandate

๐Ÿ“ˆ Building on the above, identifying ways to expand and improve system datapoints to further enhance business analytics and reporting, with the aim of better addressing mandator needs



Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the team's senior member, you will:

๐Ÿ“Š Perform structured data quality reviews aimed at supporting EIF's obligations towards the European Commission

๐Ÿค Enrich and refine mandate datapoints in close collaboration with mandate managers, improving the consistency and analytical relevance of the dataset

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Support the development of analytical views, dashboards and reporting outputs leveraging the improved dataset

๐Ÿ’ก Insight into EIF's product offering and how policy objectives are addressed

๐Ÿ’ผ Practical experience at the intersection of policy analysis, data management and business intelligence within a public institution



Qualifications

๐ŸŽ“ University degree (or ongoing studies) in Business Administration, Finance, Data Analytics/Business Analytics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or a similar discipline; candidates may be enrolled in the final year of a master's degree

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Excellent written and spoken English; a good command of another EU language is an advantage

๐Ÿ”ข Strong analytical and numerical skills, with advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, lookups, structured data validation)

๐Ÿ“Š Familiarity with data visualisation and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI and/or Tableau); basic dashboard design experience is an advantage

๐Ÿค– Basic understanding of AI agents (e.g. Co-Pilot) and relational data concepts (tables, fields, classifications, hierarchies); exposure to SQL or similar query languages is an advantage

๐Ÿ’ก Interest in business intelligence, data analytics, AI tools or information management systems applied to investment and portfolio analysis

โž• Prior exposure to CRM, portfolio management or financial databases (e.g. internal systems, PitchBook, Preqin, Capital IQ) is a plus
