Eurojust, the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation, is offering a traineeship at the JITs Network Secretariat, based at its headquarters in The Hague. The Secretariat supports, promotes and stimulates the activities of the Network of National Experts on Joint Investigation Teams (the JITs Network), established to facilitate practitioners' work, encourage the use of Joint Investigation Teams and contribute to sharing experience and best practice in using this tool.

Traineeship Specification

๐Ÿค Build expertise in joint investigation teams by getting acquainted with the tools and projects of the JITs Network Secretariat and contributing to ongoing projects

๐Ÿ“… Contribute to preparing the JITs Annual Meeting and Working Group meetings by analysing relevant material, drafting discussion papers and outcome reports, and assisting with organisational aspects

โš–๏ธ Contribute to drafting legal opinions and advice by analysing legal documents and other materials related to JITs and judicial cooperation

๐Ÿ“Š Assist with the JITs Evaluation Project by collecting and analysing existing material, in particular JIT evaluation forms

๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Maintain and manage the JITs agreements database, uploading agreements and producing structured information from it

๐Ÿ“ˆ Maintain and manage the JIT evaluation database, uploading findings from evaluation forms and producing structured information

โ“ Contribute to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Project on JITs by analysing replies and drafting the report

๐ŸŽ“ Assist with preparing training materials (PowerPoint presentations) for JIT training events, roadshows and seminars

๐Ÿ’ป Assist with the development and operation of the JITs Collaboration Platform

๐Ÿ“Œ Support any other assignments within the Secretariat's organisational matters



Eligibility

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ Be a national of an EU Member State or an EU candidate country (exceptionally, nationals of third countries with a cooperation agreement or working arrangement with Eurojust may be accepted, depending on budget)

๐ŸŽ“ Be a recent university, master's or doctorate graduate, with the diploma obtained by the closing date

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Have very good English (minimum B2), Eurojust's working language

โ›” Not have received more than six weeks of any in-service training/internship, nor have worked or been employed in any capacity within an EU institution, body, office or agency



General Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience

๐ŸŽ“ A completed university degree in law (specialisation or experience in European law, international criminal law, international humanitarian law and/or human rights law, criminology, criminal justice or political science is an asset) or other relevant fields

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Good communication and interpersonal skills

๐ŸŒ Aptitude for teamwork in an international, multicultural environment, with a cooperative, customer-oriented attitude

โœ… Ability to take responsibility for specific areas of work and see actions through to completion, meeting deadlines

๐ŸŽฏ A very good sense of accountability, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

Selection Process

๐Ÿ“„ Before signing the agreement, trainees provide original documents evidencing identity, education, proof of sickness insurance and a certificate of good conduct (not older than six months)

๐Ÿชช Trainees must hold valid health insurance for the Netherlands throughout the traineeship (not covered by Eurojust); civil liability insurance is also advised
