Are you a young graduate interested in international relations, curious about the work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU represents its interests and values in Bosnia and Herzegovina? The EU Delegation is offering funded traineeshipsof up to 6 months in 2026 across the following sections, with a tentative start in Octoberโ€“November 2026.


The Traineeships

Political Section (POL)

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Follow executive and legislative developments at State level (agendas and public sessions) and report back

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ Support work on the EU Integration file, including outreach and interaction with relevant authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina

๐Ÿค Assist in preparing and implementing projects, particularly outreach to social partners, business associations and civil society

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Support activities related to high-level visits and missions

๐Ÿ”Ž Provide background research on EU integration in Bosnia and Herzegovina on request

๐Ÿ“ Contribute to drafting briefing notes, talking points and read-outs for the section

๐Ÿ“… Attend conferences and other relevant events on request

๐Ÿ“Š Support reporting activities to HQ


Political and Communication Section (POL-COMMS)

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Follow executive and legislative developments at State level and report back

๐Ÿ”Ž Provide background research on EU integration in Bosnia and Herzegovina on request

๐Ÿ“ Contribute to drafting briefing notes, talking points and read-outs

๐Ÿ“… Attend conferences and other relevant events on request

๐Ÿ“Š Support reporting activities to HQ

โœ๏ธ Support drafting communications material, including press releases, answers to journalists' questions and social media content

๐Ÿ“ฑ Support the management of EU in BiH social media accounts, including uploading content and tracking analytics

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Support events that raise awareness about the EU's work in Bosnia and Herzegovina

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Any other tasks assigned by the line manager


Requirements

๐ŸŽ“ At least a Bachelor's diploma (or equivalent) in political science, international law, international relations, EU affairs or a related social sciences field

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Knowledge of local languages will be considered an asset

โณ Less than one year of professional experience after graduation by the signing of the agreement (other traineeships, student jobs or volunteering don't count as professional experience)


Eligibility

โœ… Candidates must meet the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of Decision ADMIN(2017)28)

๐Ÿ›‚ EU Member State citizens must provide proof of cover against pandemic risk and repatriation costs, and hold the relevant entrance visa and/or temporary residence permit where applicable

๐Ÿ“Œ You may apply to only one traineeship per delegation, but based on your profile the delegation could offer you a traineeship in another section
