Are you a young graduate interested in international relations, curious about the work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU represents its interests and values in Bosnia and Herzegovina? The EU Delegation is offering funded traineeshipsof up to 6 months in 2026 across the following sections, with a tentative start in October–November 2026.
The Traineeships
Political Section (POL)
🏛️ Follow executive and legislative developments at State level (agendas and public sessions) and report back
🇪🇺 Support work on the EU Integration file, including outreach and interaction with relevant authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina
🤝 Assist in preparing and implementing projects, particularly outreach to social partners, business associations and civil society
🎟️ Support activities related to high-level visits and missions
🔎 Provide background research on EU integration in Bosnia and Herzegovina on request
📝 Contribute to drafting briefing notes, talking points and read-outs for the section
📅 Attend conferences and other relevant events on request
📊 Support reporting activities to HQ
Political and Communication Section (POL-COMMS)
🏛️ Follow executive and legislative developments at State level and report back
🔎 Provide background research on EU integration in Bosnia and Herzegovina on request
📝 Contribute to drafting briefing notes, talking points and read-outs
📅 Attend conferences and other relevant events on request
📊 Support reporting activities to HQ
✍️ Support drafting communications material, including press releases, answers to journalists' questions and social media content
📱 Support the management of EU in BiH social media accounts, including uploading content and tracking analytics
🎟️ Support events that raise awareness about the EU's work in Bosnia and Herzegovina
🛠️ Any other tasks assigned by the line manager
Requirements
🎓 At least a Bachelor's diploma (or equivalent) in political science, international law, international relations, EU affairs or a related social sciences field
🗣️ Knowledge of local languages will be considered an asset
⏳ Less than one year of professional experience after graduation by the signing of the agreement (other traineeships, student jobs or volunteering don't count as professional experience)
Eligibility
✅ Candidates must meet the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of Decision ADMIN(2017)28)
🛂 EU Member State citizens must provide proof of cover against pandemic risk and repatriation costs, and hold the relevant entrance visa and/or temporary residence permit where applicable
📌 You may apply to only one traineeship per delegation, but based on your profile the delegation could offer you a traineeship in another section
