Are you a young graduate interested in international relations, curious about the work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU represents its interests and values in Switzerland and Liechtenstein? The EU Delegation is offering two funded traineeships of 6 months each in 2026/2027 within its Political, Press and Information Section, with a planned start on 1 October 2026.


The Two Traineeships

Focus 1 โ€” Social media, press & analysis

๐Ÿ“ฑ Support the Delegation's public diplomacy (social media campaigns and public events)

๐Ÿ“ฐ Monitor and analyse the public debate in a regular annotated press review

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Monitor political developments in Switzerland and Liechtenstein (parliamentary sessions, popular votes, elections)

๐ŸŒ Analyse Swiss and Liechtenstein foreign policy and positions in international fora

๐Ÿค Participate in meetings and conferences

Focus 2 โ€” EU policy & domestic politics

๐Ÿ”Ž Support research and analysis on Swiss/Liechtenstein EU policy and domestic politics

๐Ÿ“ Draft reports and briefings on the two countries' EU policy priorities

๐Ÿ“Š Monitor and analyse current affairs, including social and economic policy developments

๐Ÿค Prepare, actively participate in and follow up meetings with Member States and stakeholders

๐Ÿ“ฃ Contribute to social media and public diplomacy in the areas of responsibility


Requirements

โณ Less than one year of professional experience after graduation by the signing of the agreement (other traineeships, student jobs or volunteering don't count as professional experience)

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Languages: Focus 1 needs excellent German and English (C1) and good French; Focus 2 needs very good German and English and good French

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ Good knowledge of EU-Swiss political and economic relations and of European institutions

๐ŸŽ“ Advanced studies in political science, international relations, economics, European law or other relevant fields; a Bachelor's degree (preferably political science, economics or law), with a master's as an asset


Eligibility

โœ… Candidates must meet the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of Decision ADMIN(2017)28)

๐Ÿ›‚ EU Member State citizens must provide proof of cover against pandemic risk and repatriation costs, and hold the relevant entrance visa and/or temporary residence permit where applicable

๐Ÿ“Œ You may apply to only one traineeship per delegation, but based on your profile the delegation could offer you the other focus
