Description
Gimle is a regional music venue, student house and youth culture café. Gimle offers Roskilde and the region's residents a wide range of cultural events with quality, content and diversity. At Gimle, the volunteers run the arrangements - both before, during and after the events. The focal point of the project is to run Gimle's cultural café, The Raven, together with the other volunteers and staff - this includes bartending, event management and catering for bands, volunteers and customers. The café is open 5 days a week and is a popular gathering place for volunteers and the local community. In the café you can arrange everything from concerts to international evenings or a food event. There are opportunities to fill in with your own creative abilities and ideas, and thereby discover what you are really passionate about. The volunteers are encouraged to create a personal project in order to put a "foot print" at Gimle. This project can include cultural events, concerts, decorations etc
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Gimle have rented an apartment in the centre of Roskilde town for accommodation of the ESC, where you will live together with 3 other volunteers. Each ESC have their own room with a shared living rooms, kitchen, toilets and bathroom You will receive money for food alongside your pocket money, and have food when you are working at the Raven. The apartment is in walking distance from Gimle (10-15 min.) and you will also have communal bikes for local transportation.
Training during the activity
During you stay you will receive different kinds of training: Bartending and cafe training will be side by side learning during your first 2 weeks of the project Training in event production and technical training in sound and light engineering will be in workshops before or during your first events or concerts Danish lessons will be either through the official OLS training or through in person classes (volunteers choice) You will also receive a mandatory online hygiene course that allows you to handle food for sale in Denmark
