Description
MANAGING NATURE aims to promote environmental education and reflect/raise awareness about the importance of preserving the environment, the impact of invasive species on ecosystems, the importance of controlling and managing invasive species and sustainable growth, through initiative to control and manage 5 invasive species in the municipality of Fornos de Algodres. As for leisure activities, we will have visits (to the museum, library, river beach, social solidarity institutions), intercultural evenings, sports activities, traditional games, parties, swimming pool, cultural activities, ect. During the project, the days will be organized in this way: during the morning and beginning the afternoon the participants do their voluntering work, during second half of the afternoon and night the participants will have the leisure activities.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
ACCOMODATION: The participants will stay at Hostel EntryFik. The Hostel is working since 2016 and the building was completely reformulated. The participants will sleep in dormitories divided per gender. In the Hostel, we will have a team that clean the accommodation and cook the meals. For more information about hostel, the participants can check Hostel Website: www.hostelentryfik.com . MEALS: Meals will be served at the hostel. All special food requirements will be respected if thereโs prior information sent to the participants. We will have 5 meals a day.
Training during the activity
MANAGING NATURE is intended that volunteers acquire knowledge in terms of environmental education and reflect/raise awareness about the importance of environmental issues, mainly the importance of controlling and managing invasive species, namely: โข understand the problem of invasive species; โข understand and subsequently raise awareness among the population of the importance of controlling and managing invasive species; โข obtain knowledge about practical actions to control 5 invasive species. The technical training will be given by an environmental technician from the Municipality.
Participant profile
Young volunteers must be between 18 and 30 years old and have an interest in topics such as sustainability and green practices, and demonstrate appropriate conduct in performing tasks during the project. For the entire group to function correctly, the established schedules must be adhered to.
