🇲🇳 Internship in Mongolia 🌏 Political, Press & Public Diplomacy at the EU Delegation in Ulaanbaatar 🇪🇺 — Monthly Grant

Strategic communication. Social media. Press reviews. EU-funded project outreach. And a diplomatic mission in one of Asia's most unique postings — Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. This funded traineeship at the EU Delegation to Mongolia is for young graduates who combine strong language skills in both English and Mongolian with a genuine interest in EU diplomacy and international development.

The EU Delegation to Mongolia works across political reporting, strategic communication, public diplomacy, and cooperation programme management — representing EU interests and values in Mongolia and engaging on issues from youth to EU-funded development projects.

What Is This Traineeship?

A funded traineeship of up to 6 months within the Political, Press and Information Section (PPI) of the EU Delegation to Mongolia. Tentative start date: June or July 2026.

Main Tasks

📢 Supporting the PPI and Cooperation sections in the organisation, preparation, and implementation of EU communication, strategic communication, and public diplomacy activities — in particular on issues related to youth and EU-funded projects — and proposing new activities

📋 Updating and maintaining concise project overviews and factsheets on EU-funded projects

✍️ Drafting written content — social media posts, press releases, memos, reports, and more

🎪 Assisting in the preparation of meetings and events — practical arrangements and meeting minutes as required

🗞️ Assisting in the preparation of the weekly press review and weekly political updates by monitoring daily incoming news and information

🌍 Assisting the PPI and Cooperation sections with participation in COP17 if and when needed

🗂️ Contributing to administrative tasks — translations, letters, filing, delivery of letters to external parties, and similar

🤝 Helping the Head of PPI Section and colleagues with other emerging tasks in their fields of responsibility

Who Should Apply?

🔹 University degree in political sciences, linguistics, business administration, social studies, international relations, international development, European affairs, journalism, communications, project management, law, public financial management/economics, agriculture, forestry, renewable energy, or similar discipline

🔹 Good analytical skills and capacity to formulate them in a structured manner

🔹 Ability and willingness to work in an international environment

🔹 Ability to deliver good quality work output under tight deadlines

🔹 Computer literate with practical experience in Microsoft packages

🔹 Excellent English and Mongolian language skills — both required

🔹 Initiative, flexibility, good organisational skills, and team player attitude — an advantage

🔹 Has less than one year of professional experience after graduation by the signing date of the Traineeship agreement

⚠️ Other traineeships, student jobs, or volunteering work carried out during university or after graduation are not considered as professional experience for this criterion.

Grant & Financial Conditions

💶 Monthly grant provided to cover living expenses

⚠️ All costs related to travel, visa, insurance, and accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

For EU Member State citizens:

🛡️ Must provide proof of coverage against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation

🪪 Must hold a relevant entrance visa and/or temporary residence permit where applicable — based on the traineeship agreement, its duration, and compliance with local legislation

⚠️ The traineeship can only be offered in compliance with local legislation and the legislation of the country of origin.
