ONE LONG TERM ESC VOLUNTEER VACANCY AT OUR SCHOOL IN SPAIN

Colegio La Purísima

COLEGIO LA PURÍSIMA

ALZIRA, Spain

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for 1 outgoing young person between 22 to 30 years old who is interested in the field of children and youth. Our volunteer has three main tasks: 1. Helping children in the classroom along with the teachers mainly in the English subject. Our school has students from 3 to 18 years old. 2. Hosting conversation sessions for both teachers and students. This involves preparing conversation topics and working with a group of students. We will offer you materials to work with. 3. Design three projects to work with the students based on European values (environment, health, culture...). The Erasmus coordinator of the school will help you with the designing and running of the project. The project is addressed to the primary students to learn more about European values. Last year the projects helped students learn about 'healthy habits', 'endangered animals' and 'blood donation' and we celebrated a blood donation day. We also learnt about how to help the environment.

ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

IDEA is the coordinating organisation for this project. They are part of the local council and handle all the practical and financial aspects of the project. Having coordinated projects for years, they are very friendly and know what they are doing. IDEA will provide you with accommodation as well as pocket money and an expenses allowance . The two combined currently come to just over 300 euros. The volunteer wil be able to have lunch at our school cantine for free.

TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY

IDEA currently also provides the volunteers access to municipal leisure facilities and Spanish classes (three hours a week).

PARTICIPANT PROFILE

We are looking for 1 outgoing young person between 22 to 30 years old who must have a passion for children, education, culture and nature as well as a high level of English language proficiency (C1 or higher B2). An intermediate level of Spanish is required as it will aid the volunteer in integrating better into the school community. Teaching experience is a plus but not required.
