DESCRIPTION

Project overview: The volunteer will be part of our volunteer team in Baden. He/She will take part in activities targeting social welfare as well as education: second-hand boutique, thrift store/Charity shop, food bank, studying with children… Key tasks the volunteer(s) will be involved in: Together with a team of volunteers and professionals, the volunteer will carry out the following tasks: - helping at the second-hand boutique, thrift store and food bank - collecting and delivering donations in kind - studying with children in school or digitally - once a month collect and distribute food for people in need Eventually, the volunteer will get to know every activity of our local branch.


ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

The volunteer will be lodged directly at the district office building in Baden with a fully furnished room, an equipped kitchen and a washing machine. Baden is well located with a tight network of public transport (busses, trams, trains) that connects the volunteer to the nearest towns as well as the capital Vienna.


TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY

Depending on existing language skills, there is the option for an extensive language course externally or an individual language training in-house. Other courses as listed below: - First Aid Course (16-hours, offered only in German) - Austrian Red Cross Welcome Course (2-hours, offered only in German) Organisation and activities of the branch in Baden - Red Cross Course (8-hours) [optional, offered only in German] Red Cross movement, values and principles, activities and organization

The house of humanity in Baden is looking for a motivated young person who is interested in volunteering in different areas of heath and social services in Baden. To have a great experience with us you should.. ... be interested in management of social stores, dealing with food and non-food items for sale ... like to communicate with people of different backgrounds and are a social person ... be able to organize yourself and are outgoing and open. ... be ok with living in a smaller town, only half an hour away from Vienna ... be interested in the Red Cross as an organization and support our values. Knowledge of German is helpful (A2). We are looking forward to meeting you!
