Kalistratia ODV is looking for Forest Makers to join their team in Polia, Calabria — preparing the Kalabria Eco Festival 2026 through woodwork, eco-construction, forest stewardship, and sustainable event production. The placement combines ancient craftsmanship with modern eco-celebration in a community built around organic food, local traditions, and slow-living.

What Is This Role About?

Volunteers take on three connected roles: building the festival infrastructure through traditional woodworking and eco-construction, protecting the local forest ecosystem through selective clearing and trail maintenance, and producing the Kalabria Eco Festival 2026 through logistics, artistic installations, and sustainable event management.

Activities

🪵 Woodwork & Eco-Construction — mastering traditional woodworking to build festival stages, infrastructure, and sustainable outdoor furniture using local "Km 0" timber

🌲 Forest Stewardship — selective clearing and trail maintenance to protect the local ecosystem

🎪 Festival Production — handling logistics, artistic installations, and sustainable event management for the Kalabria Eco Festival 2026

🏡 Community Life — living in a rural Italian eco-hub, sharing organic food and local Calabrian traditions

Training

🔨 Woodwork & Carpentry — hands-on safety and technical training with manual and power tools to build eco-structures

🌳 Forestry Skills — training in sustainable land management, silviculture, and trail mapping

🎭 Event Management — mentorship in large-scale event production, from logistics to sustainable waste management

🇮🇹 Language & Culture — intensive Italian language support and local cultural integration workshops
