๐ฎ๐น Erasmus+ Conference in Italy โ Stand for Our Rights ๐ Human Rights Education, Social Justice & Activism, Turin ๐ฎ๐น
As the spaces for human rights work continue to shrink across the globe, the Human Rights Education community is being called to reflect, regroup, and act. This Erasmus+ conference in Turin, Italy brings together youth workers, human rights educators, trainers, and activists to critically examine their practice, exchange strategies, and co-create a shared Manifesto on Human Rights Education in times of systemic violation. No participation fee. Accommodation and meals covered. Travel reimbursed.
๐ Did You Know? Turin (Torino) is one of Italy's most underrated cities โ a baroque metropolis of grand boulevards, world-class museums, and a proud industrial and activist heritage. It was Italy's first capital after unification in 1861, home to some of Europe's finest Egyptian artefacts at the Museo Egizio, and a city with a rich tradition of social movements and trade union organising that feels deeply fitting for a conference on human rights.
What Is This Conference About?
โ Critically reflect on Human Rights Education (HRE) practice in today's complex geopolitical environment โ where human rights are increasingly under threat even in traditionally "safe" contexts
๐ Facilitate the exchange of strategies, tools, and support mechanisms among HRE practitioners from across Erasmus+ countries
๐ Co-create a shared Manifesto on Human Rights Education in Times of Human Rights Violations โ a collective statement to be shared with the wider HRE community and international stakeholders
๐ฃ๏ธ Explore how HRE can be adapted and sustained in contexts that are openly hostile or structurally resistant to human rights values
๐ค Reconnect with shared human rights values and transform them from abstract principles into authentic, collective practices for social justice
๐ Did You Know? Human Rights Education (HRE) is recognised by the United Nations as a fundamental right in itself โ not just a teaching tool but a vehicle for empowerment, dignity, and social transformation. Yet research consistently shows that HRE practitioners face growing burnout, funding cuts, and political resistance, making peer exchange and community-building events like this conference more critical than ever.
