BEST, the Board of European Students of Technology, organises short courses and education symposia throughout the year at universities across Europe, open to students from member and partner institutions. Accommodation, meals, teaching materials, and social activities are all covered by the local organising group — with a maximum participation fee of €100 for the entire event. 🌐 Did You Know? BEST — the Board of European Students of Technology — is one of the largest student-run organisations in Europe, with local groups at universities in over 30 countries. It has been connecting engineering students across borders since 1989, with thousands of students participating in BEST events every year.
Two Types of Events
💻 BEST Courses of Technology
Short technical courses of 1 to 2 weeks organised by local BEST groups at universities across Europe. Each course focuses on a specific topic within engineering or technology, attended by 20 to 30 students. The local group covers accommodation, meals, transport to lectures, teaching materials, and social activities. A participation fee of up to €10 per day (maximum €100 total) may apply depending on the local group.

🎓 BEST Symposia on Education (BSE)
Education-focused discussion events lasting 7 to 10 days, gathering 20 to 25 technology students alongside professors, industry experts, researchers, and higher education representatives from across Europe. BSEs explore challenges and innovations in engineering education — outcomes are compiled into reports that feed into papers submitted to international education conferences. Same format and coverage as BEST Courses, with a focus on educational debate and reform rather than technical training.

BEST Symposia on Education outcomes are not just internal discussions — the reports produced at BSEs contribute to academic papers submitted to major international engineering education conferences such as SEFI, WEEF, and ICL. Participants contribute to real, published research on the future of higher education in Europe.
What Does Participation Include?
🏠Accommodation and meals covered by the local organising BEST group for the full duration of the event
🚌Transportation to lectures and all event-related activities arranged by the local group
📚Teaching materials and all costs related to the course content — no hidden academic costs
🎉Social activities and cultural exchange with engineering students from across Europe — BEST events are as much about making international connections as they are about learning
💶Participation fee may apply depending on the local group — maximum €10 per day, with a total cap of €100 for the entire event
