The Global Logic and Reasoning Competition (GLRC) is an international competition for students who want to strengthen their logical reasoning, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Rather than testing memorised knowledge, GLRC challenges participants to solve unfamiliar problems and evaluate information critically. Students compete across three rounds for a total prize pool of USD 1,500, plus international medals, national awards and honours, and every participant receives an official certificate. The Qualification Round deadline is 6 September 2026.
Why This Competition Exists
In an age of artificial intelligence and information abundance, skills like reasoning, judgement and critical thinking are becoming more valuable than ever. As the organisers put it, information is cheap but judgment is not. GLRC provides an accessible and intellectually challenging environment where participants strengthen essential reasoning skills while joining a global community of students, teachers, mentors and alumni. With only a pen, paper and internet access required for the online stages, students can take part from anywhere in the world.

How the Competition Works
The competition unfolds across three rounds:
🧠 Qualification Round (deadline 6 September 2026): participants solve reasoning problems independently from anywhere in the world, across multiple areas of logical and analytical reasoning. You may use books, the internet and AI tools to help you, but you must solve the problems yourself; a full AI solution is not allowed. To qualify for the Semi-Final, you need to score at least 15, 17 or 20 points depending on your age group (Junior, Youth or Senior).
📄 Semi-Final Round (18 October 2026): completed as a supervised or digitally monitored exam, this round includes reading a real scientific research paper, followed by a 60-minute exam on it and two further problems. Registration for the Semi-Final is 12 EUR, and financial aid is available.
🏁 Final Round (17 November 2026): a supervised, tool-free international final conducted globally on a unified schedule, with around 30 questions drawing on every earlier round. Fast, sharp reasoning under real time pressure decides the top performers, who receive international and national awards. Results and awards are announced on 23 November 2026.
The Six Domains
There is no syllabus to memorise; GLRC tests how you think, not what you have been taught, across six domains:
🔹 Deductive reasoning: starting from facts or rules and working out what must be true.
🔹 Probabilistic reasoning: weighing evidence and base rates, and updating your mind sensibly as new information arrives.
🔹 Causal reasoning: telling real causes from coincidence, spotting confounding variables and thinking through what would change if something changed.
🔹 Strategic reasoning: thinking a step ahead when the outcome depends on what others do too.
🔹 Critical reading: reading closely to find hidden assumptions and gaps, and telling a valid argument from one that only seems right.
🔹 Modelling and estimation: breaking a vague, messy problem into the parts that matter and reaching a defensible estimate.
Who Can Take Part
GLRC is open to students worldwide who are interested in logical reasoning, critical thinking and analytical problem solving. Participants compete within appropriate age divisions established by the competition (Junior, Youth and Senior). All you need is a computer with internet access during the online stages, and no prior experience in formal logic is required, only curiosity and a willingness to solve challenging reasoning problems.

Costs to Keep in Mind
The Qualification Round is open and free to enter. The Semi-Final Round has a registration fee of 12 EUR, and financial aid is available for those who need it. The organisers also invite teachers and schools to offer GLRC as an extracurricular opportunity, with tools, resources and recognition included.
